Read through the negative reviews again, it's basically the same like three things which are not really even "reviews".
1) People disagree with the f2p model, so they freak out and accuse the game of being a cash grab.
2) People accuse it of being a wow clone. Yea the graphic style is similar, but so what. So is runes of magic. To me personally the graphics are just fine, remember this game came out around 2009. Watch my twitch streams, if they are too outdated for you hey that's cool, it's not the game for you then.
3) Personal attacks against the owner. Derek has a strong personality and doesnt put up with BS. So what? That doesn't change the entertainment value of the game. Don't post stupid trolling stuff here and you won't have an issue.
I would say he "real" reviews would be from people who genuinely just didnt find the game entertaining, maybe they prefer the newer ARPG style, or want 2015 graphics, stuff like that. Again, totally cool, just means this is not the game for you if so.
Is there any kind of crafting system? Player/Veteran incentives?
This is totally false. Download game and try to play. There is no ripped UI (but interface model like in wow, swtor, rift, etc. - bags buttons, panels for skill buttons), graphics and mob names are not from WoW.

To be honest, I didn't think they were allowed to review their own games, it will always be biased.
I just wanted honest opinions of honest unbiased players that play the game.
There is no conspiracy here...
Anyone can read reviews, etc., but you are just getting those people's impressions. You need to try the game for yourself and come up with your own conclusion.
We don't do that. And Steam doesn't even allow it. I don't - and never have - solicited "good" reviews for ANY of my games. Why? Because those are based on personal opinions, where genuine; and I'm not going to waste my time being concerned about it because people will do what they want, regardless.
Aside from Alganon, which I inherited through my investment in the company back in 2010, I have shipped over sixteen games, and have never had to do solicit, let alone write reviews of my games. The most I tend to do is what every developer does. "Hey, if you like the game, write a review".
My games are not for everyone, and I simply don't care about that because I never set out to make cookie-cutter games for the masses.
Obviously, the fact that I can afford to run - and fund - two companies, pay multiple teams to work on various products - and have done so for almost three decades, means that bad (which I don't have a problem with, as long as they are genuine) reviews are meaningless to the financial outcome of my games.
There is no conspiracy here.
So, back to the positive aspects.
About the game
There's an overall feel, quite difficult to define, that could appeal to old players and create various moments of anamnesis. You know, those emotions that come up suddenly when something reminds you of a lost memory. So, people who played games like Everquest, Anarchy Online, Asheron's Call 2, Horizons, Ryzom, etc., might experience this.
- A mix of confusion and sense of wonder on what to do and where to go, having to think a bit by yourself (mostly for Ourobani on the island of Aeon).
- "Slow" leveling even for the 5 first levels, as it was 15 years ago.
- Added features to fine-tune your character development with studies, even offline, with your own priorities set up.
- Rewarding craft creations at early levels.
- Not so expensive and "à la carte" microtransactions for those who want to invest and support the game. Special packages to unlock things, or chunks: you choose.
- Overall nice community. The /3 (help) channel has been very active since launch on Steam and people seem to behave and auto-regulate quite well.
- Really fun new class (Warden). After having already the typical Bear/Feline pair of companions, what if I tamed that tiny crab on the beach? Or that gigantic named raptor 20 feet tall? OMG...
- etc.
About the devs/GMs
- Openness to discussion and suggestions (cf. the ongoing thread) about new features.
- GMs are often ingame asking about how things go.
- They even come where you are to fix bugs or at least see by themselves on the field! (Spinning bears, anyone?)
And I assume there are many other positive aspects. Overall, if I had to resume my feeling in a shorter sentence I would say: "I dunno why, but I like this game".
And more over... I'm having fun.
Free to Play sure it is... if you want that extra kick like 99.9% of MMO's out there you do so if you dont then you dont.
Mind you the ingame cash shop is by far THE CHEAPEST i have ever come across in any MMO i have played over 30 years of online gaming. Yes Im an old fart (44 this year).
So why play this game simple has balanced and unique character traits graphics are fine maybe outdated but they are in no way a reason not to play. The community is great fun helpful even Eolynn lol. The GM's devs and staff are in no way abusive unless of course you yank their tail.. which is the case with the negative reviews and whatnot noone likes an abusive community
The cash shop items are IN NO WAY a pay to win scenario. They help you but in pvp heck I cant see a thing that would make you op as hell. Also as I stated earlier this game has the cheapest ingame cash shop I have ever come across. Also of course there is no monthly sub which face it really gets annoying .. especially when international monetary rates dive and your dollar almost woth 1.5 less of theirs.....
Oh and the best reason to pay of course.. Is.. because Im there .. joking but damn give it a bash youll either like it love it or meh it nothing ventured nothing gained
