Chase is back!
Good news!.

I just received a really angry email from Chase

A bit of context:

We have been following Drift Stage since the kickstarter campaign and loved the style. So it inspired us to create a mobile racing game with the same aesthethics. But with both cars and motorbikes and many different mechanics.

Our game plays like Outrun, dodging traffic cars and competing against rivals while racing against time with checkpoints and branches on the road where you can choose which path to take, and the tracks are procedurally generated from interchangeable sections, so it plays like a "roguelike racer"

We published a region locked beta of the game on iOS and we got a copyright complaint from Chase

" I want to thank you. Anger and spite are huge motivators, and the existence of your clone has filled me with white hot rage. I'm going to do whatever it takes to make sure that Drift Stage is completed and a success, so that I can take that success and leverage it to shut down your pitiful clone factory.

- Chase Pettit"

So it seems Chase is back to continue the development of the game :) We are really glad to be a motivation for chase to come back to the project. We were fans of his work since we saw the kickstarter campaign so we will love to see the game completed.

Funny how complying with his obligations to the backers was not a motivation for 3 years, but "white hot rage" was a motivation. Anyway, I hope his motivation doesn't wear off too quickly, I would love to play Drift Stage, I'm a big fan of Supersystem's work

They say imitation is the most sincere form of admiration, so you can see I admire their work.

Also I don't see Drift Stage as a competition to our game, they are different games for different platforms and for a different audience, so I'm sure they can coexist

What's your game called? Will there be a PC port?

Doesn't your game literally rip assets off from Drift Stage? :beancharacter:

Looks like it's on the App Store as "Turbo Mixtape". Unless it's a clone of *that*

EDIT: I just checked out Youtube footage of TM. I have no words.

Oof, me too; the sound effects are atrocious and the car handling looks like poop.
That's a shame, but we shall see if Chase will have the balls finally to get the game rolling, for his words to have some weight.
