Map Retention

If this has previously been answered I apologize and will delete this post, but I am just moving over to the plethora of information here on steam from the Ark subreddit. I understand when you die you lose your gear, but retain any engrams you've learned and skills that the character has leveled. But what about your map? It seems like, as you explore, you map out the nooks and crannies of the island. If you die, do you keep the information you have mapped out? Or does that all reset every spawn?

I think there was a answer form the devs somewhere but i can't find it right now. Just found this one so it seems like they gave an answer to this already:

I think it's a cool idea, but way too hardcore for most people, especially since you can lose the map when you die.

i'll keep up searching and post it if i found something

All I know is that you keep all knowledge but lose your gear, you can get your gear back in 15 minutes at the place you died. Other than that im not sure, but I guess a map would count as knowledge so i'm going to say no you don't.
