Multiple BSOD per day
Hi,

I'm getting multiple blue screens per day while playing Ark, the crash is caused by DXGMMS2.sys: Page fault in non paged area.

Has anyone had similar issues? Any suggestions for a resolution?

Thanks,
lancemate

that's a symptom of a memory stick with offsets in failure, you have to test each ram stick at computer boot with memtest86+

That's solid advice right there.

Thanks I will certainly give this a try, however I only get the issue when playing Ark, no other games or applications are causing a blue screen.

Ark fills RAM more than most games atm, so other applications might not even fill it up to the faulty part that causes your BSOD. That might be why Ark crashes your PC while other programs don't.

yeah.... basically its purely a matter of nothing else taxing your system enough to trip over the chunk of flawed memory in a problematic manner. I've had that TYPE of problem before on other games or the like with memory that was flaky. it kinda sucks extra because it can be perfectly fine for most things, but what you really want to do it keels over.

I got multiple bluecreens a day too. lost today every pet i used and all my gear because of them.
The other games run fine and i got a lot of games, like you can see in my profile.

My graphics card drive keeps crashing when running ark, i really hope it doesnt mean my card is on the way out :/.

After those perfomance updates, i still get bluescreens. The day before yesterday i didnt got a bs, but i could only play 1,5h. yesterday after a hour of playing i got one again. After each patch i try the game. when i get a bs, i stop playing and try it with the next patch.
I continue then to play other games, which are still run very fine. even those games that need more hardware performance and that kind of games work usually in very high settings.

As stated before, BSOD is almost always related to hardware issues, and has nothing to do with the software you're running apart from it's utilising your hardware differently than previous applications have done.

Try running the lower memory version of the game.

I had a similar problem with another game a year ago or so, and after many tries I found I had a faulty ram stick. Since I had it changed my computer works way better than before.
I'm afraid there is no other way than to check your RAM and change the faulty one.

The BSOD's are caused by ARK and not faulty hardware, I have had BSOD's on around 12 different setups using both AMD CPU's/GPU's... Different RAM from different manufacturers... Different motherboards (Asus, Gigabyte, AsRoc etc)... Different HDD's/SSDs (Space, Speed and I/O) Different PSU's (Manufacturer, Model, Wattage/Ampage etc)

There is a fix coming for GPU driver crashes...

OP d/l bluescreenview and copy the data it shows from your latest BSOD, I will debug it for you

Well as I said last year I had the same problem with another game obviously and it definitvely was a faulty RAM... even though most people told me it most probably was a driver or whatever but not hardware.
So you may be right for all I know, still why not check it out to be sure? If he really has a faulty RAM he'll ahve more and more problems in time, better know now.

This is why I asked for the BSOD details :) I can tell him if its hardware or not.

I repair computer electronics for a living hence having so much hardware to test it on... If it matches my BSOD's I have gotten off all different setups then its ARK... We shall see :)

I read in another topic that people started getting crashes after installing the latest NV Game Ready drivers, not updated myself.

To be clear, a Blue Screen is usually either linked to a hardware fault or a dodgy driver. On my system ARK does not push either the CPU or GPU particularly hard, though it does use a lot of Ram. It's possible that a system being stressed more than usual for an extended period would highlight any instabilities.

I had multiple BSOD's each day playing Ark, but in no other game, as someone said, Ark uses more memory than most games, so other games probably don't reach the faulty spot on the memory. I ran MemTest a few days ago, and it turned out that i had a faulty memory chip, so i got a new one (in warranty, so free), not a single BSOD after that. I've had a few graphic driver crashes, but then after the newest nVidia driver that released 1-2 days ago, that also stopped (Using Windows 10).

And oh yeah, use MemTest86, not the built in windows memory diagnostic, that doesn't check the memory thoroughly enough.
