Ark Mod updater new patch
* Windows & Linux Dedicated Servers now support automatic mod download/installation/updating! Just add "-automanagedmods" to your launch commandline and it will do so before the server launches (note for Maps this will not work unless you're specifying the Workshop ID to load a Mod Map). On Linux Servers, you need to run this script (included with the ARK dedicated server files) once to install SteamCMD: \SteamCMDInstall.sh

You can also specify a manual list of extra Steam Workshop Mods/Maps/TC ID's to download/install/update in your Game.ini via (with the commandline as normal to actually use them in-game), example:

[ModInstaller]
ModIDS=680481868
ModIDS=682394267

Think we need more info in the patch notes as this does not specify if it will only download if new versions are found or will it always download the mods ?

Man I was hoping this would be more automated. Like it would check for update say ever hour and then send warning to server, download, apply and restart. Oh well

I updated my server prior to adding the new command and its downloading all the mods again
I had no Updates as i just previously done them all, prior to booting server up.

Anyway booted server up (once all updates were done) and then shut it back down.
I needed to know,if it will do the whole process again.

Answer is : No it does not

TBH it works pretty well - No more copying mod folder over.

Second boot it flys though the list of mods :) - looking good so far

Also one last thing - is anyone getting this when running server from home.
Im getting it after latest patch

\src\public\tier1/interface.h (264) : Assertion Failed: m_pModule
Assert( Assertion Failed: m_pModule ):c:\buildslave\steam_rel_client_win64\build\src\public\tier1/interface.h:264

My Linux server doesn't seem to have the SteamCMDInstall.sh at all, but I already have SteamCMD installed.

When I add the [ModInstaller] section to my Game.ini and try to start the server I get the following error:

Using binned.
4.5.1-0+UE4 7038 3077 402 5
[S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; SteamAPI_IsSteamRunning() failed.
Setting breakpad minidump AppID = 346110
LowLevelFatalError [File:E:\SVN_Ark\Engine\Source\Runtime\Core\Private\Linux\LinuxPlatformProcess.cpp] [Line: 652]
FLinuxPlatformProcess::WaitForProc: waitid for pid -1 failed (errno=22, Invalid argument)
Signal 11 caught.
EngineCrashHandler: Signal=11
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Remove that section from the Game.ini file and it starts normally (but obviously doesn't update the mods used on the server).

I also, in desperation, tried to change "ModIDS" into "ModID" in Game.ini just in case it was a typo, and that made the server start normally (without updating mods).

Konoc, that SteamCMDInstall.sh should be located in the root file of your server files.

so wait if its downloading all the mods again.....did they change the mod location? i mean if the mods are up to date why would it redownload.

I figured as much, but it's not there.

steam@ns380957:~/arkdedicated$ ls -l
total 19916
drwxrwxr-x 6 steam steam 4096 May 19 07:38 Engine
drwxrwxr-x 2 steam steam 4096 May 25 19:06 linux64

drwxrwxr-x 6 steam steam 4096 Feb 13 22:35 ShooterGame
drwxrwxr-x 4 steam steam 4096 Feb 13 22:25 steamapps
-rwxrwxr-x 1 steam steam 18191370 May 25 19:06 steamclient.so
-rwxrwxr-x 1 steam steam 5 Jul 8 00:23 version.txt

That's all I have in the root of my ark server folder.

Mine is the same as Konc with the error, and the file: "SteamCMDInstall.sh" is not located anwhere at all. I did an updatedb, then "locate -i SteamCMDInstall.sh", and still nowhere to be found anywhere.

If I add in the [ModInstaller] section, I get the exact same error, and when I remove it, it is just fine.

I had posted this on another thread that was asking the same question. http://steamcommunity.com/app/346110/discussions/0/358417008718413037/

Blaksmith, did you mean to link to a list of discussion threads instead of a thread directly?
Blaksmith Jul 7, 2016 @ 5:07pm
Konc, no, I meant to link just the one thread directly, as it just shows a little more info into the same thing that I replied to right before finding this thread.
Blaksmith Jul 7, 2016 @ 5:13pm
Updated the previous post with the proper thread. Sorry about posting the wrong link. :)

I couldnt find the script anywhere myself, not after searching google a bit.
But I figured out where to install steamcmd manually so it works.
cd Engine/Binaries/ThirdParty/SteamCMD
mkdir Linux
cd Linux
curl http://media.steampowered.com/installer/steamcmd_linux.tar.gz > steamcmd.tar.gz
tar -zxf steamcmd.tar.gz
./steamcmd.sh
Let it do its update and all that.
exit steamcmd.
The game will no long seg fault on start, and it will download the mods correctly.
Goonsman Jul 9, 2016 @ 3:24am
Great! Your solution did it ... just restarted my server and it fetched all used mods to the new ../steamcmd/... dirs - took it arround 5 mins to do so, but now it works.

Thank you

I guess steamcmd will not like to be linked to by more than one server, but this could be tried another time ... ;)

I was able to install the steamcmd thing according to the instructions you provided, but I don't see any updates or downloads of mods happening. Only difference is the server doesn't crash on start.

Update: For some reason nothing happened until I decided to delete one of the mods running, and starting the server again. Then it finally downloaded all mods.
