Port forwarding problem (i think) for running Ark Server
Hi all and thanks for the help and sorry for my bad english ^^

I'm trying to host a server on my PC using Ark Server Manager.
Actually, the server is running and i can play on it in my LAN accessing by my LAN IP.

The problem is that i have a friend that want to play from his home, so she need to access by WAN IP.
We tried (by DDNS and by direct ip), but she never got response from my server.

I think it's a port forwarding problem.

I've tried to open the ports TPC/UDP 27015, 27016, 7777 and 7778 on the router (see image below) for the static ip of my machine in my LAN, and i tried to add rules in the firewall/disable firewall, but i don't know if i do it in the right way.

I've tried with Open Ports Scanners with the settings "connect() / don't ping / UDP scan" as found in the ASM forum, and i have this results... It's all correct?
UDP's seems opened, but i don't know why the service is "halflife" (that i haven't) and if filtered it's a good thing or not.

PORT STATE SERVICE

27015/tcp filtered unknown
27016/tcp filtered unknown
7777/tcp filtered cbt
7778/tcp closed interwise

27015/udp open|filtered halflife
27016/udp open|filtered unknown
7777/udp open|filtered unknown
7778/udp open|filtered interwise

This is what i've done on my router (192.168.1.6 is the ip of the server pc): http://i66.tinypic.com/2wqxyl3.png

Thanks to all!

Did you setup an application rule for ARK and insure it was enabled? The section to make sure it was enabled is in Advanced/Application Rule (next section just under the Advanced/Port Forwarding)

https://portforward.com/d-link/dsl-2740r/

The link above has you setting your computer (server) up with a static IP, it is recomendid but not a big deal to skip - just helps insure your IP does not change

You should try to configure udp and tcp separately I am pretty sure that that is causing the problem also I figured that it sometimes takes several minutes till people from outside your lan can connect to you and that joining via friends or favorite doesn't seem to work properly on servers that are hosted from home I suggest to give your friend the name of the server and let her join via the unofficial server list
If you talk about rules in windows firewall, in the advanced tab i have checked all profiles (public, private, domain), and i have allowed the edge traversal...

I have a static IP in the LAN, the same I set on the router ports forwarding.
Separated in the router configuration? Cause in firewall are just separated
Yes in your router configuration
Just double checked my router port forwarding - I only have 27015 and 777 set with UDP - that is all I have set for my ARK dedicated server...

sara_thepot need a clarification on your network setup, since you are using the dlink is there anything hooked up before it?

Example: [Cable modem?] --> [Dlink] --> [Your Computer]

What does the cable from the WAN port on the Dlink hook too?

Scratch that, just looked at some pictures and information on your DLink - it is a DSL modem / router unit: Built-in ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ modem (Annex A) = you have a phone line plugged into the back of it
SP_Kenny yes, i have the phone cable plugged in my dlink, nothing behind...
I've tried to separate the tcp/udp ports for a total of 8 forwards but nothing changes.
She has tried to search the server by name in the unofficial list but nothing, i think cause is "Waiting for publication"
Have them open the Steam Server Browser --> Favorites --> Add a Server and have them input your WAN (Public) IP address and the 7777 port. If your forwarding is working it should show up there. Have them try to connect if they can see it.
Don't worry if the game fails to launch or crashes when it starts (my still be an issue with launching ARK that way) but now once your friend starts ARk the normal way they should have it show up in their Fav list in the Ark server browser and be able to connect

As to the ports forwarded in the router you can scale that down to just the 27015 and 7777 UDP, anything else is not needed

If it is still acting up try and see if there is a firmware update for your D-Link - I say this as a last resort

in your start.bat file, do you have Port=27015?QueryPort=27016 ?

with this, the players would connect to you like so:

Steam > view menu > servers > favorite tab > add server ip

your.public.ip.address:27016

then the server should appear in favorite filter within ark.
sara-thepot I just looked at the screen shot you had posted and found the firmware version. In trying to find information on your router I find other versions of the dsl-2740r on the dlink website (ie:dsl-2740b) but any google searches with links to dlinks website and the 2740r take me too a uk version of the site with a 404 for the pages.

I take it you are in the UK, and is the router provided by your ISP? If so if the thing is more then 2 years old you might contact them and see if you can get a current / upgraded unit.

If you cannot get the port frowarding to work it may just be the router / firmware. I had ran into that once with an expensive Linksys wireless router that I paid quite a bit of money for. Port forwarding just did not work on it and had to go back to my previous wireless router which worked fine - just did not support wireless n

MIYUKI how is Tatsuya doing?

Anyway - in my steam / server browser it lists my private server with the 7777 port not the 27015 - the 27015 is the default communacation port between the server and the steam backend for client auth and steam server listing - the Ark client uses the 7777

If you see a server using the 27016 it is generally because the server is hosting more then 1 steam game and the port just rolled too the next. The steam auth servers will generally accept ports 27015 - 27018 I think it was

ports are user configurable
Hi all, thanks for your answers :)

My router is not provided by the isp, i had bought it a lot of years ago... We have another one router, but i can take it in the weekend cause is not at my home :)

I tried to add my ip in ArkServers but returns:
"We could not query that server's online information.
Both ports 27015 and 27016 were checked.
Did you type the IP right? Did you use the correct port?"

When she try to add my server, she do it in "Steam > Server > Favourites", and she try the ip and the ip with all the 4 ports, but steam returns ever "Server not responding".

She tried to search the server in unofficial and password protected list, but nothing... The server is actually up and it's called "ThePotServer"... You can see it?

When the server is launched in the prompt I see:

Commandline: TheCenter?listen?MultiHome=192.168.1.6?Port=7777?QueryPort=27015?MaxPlayers=10?bRawSockets -nosteamclient -game -server -log

Router firmware is updated... And i'm desperate ;(

That are the ports that i see as used when i launch the server:
without raw socket: http://i64.tinypic.com/w6wmtt.png
with raw socket: http://i63.tinypic.com/33vp55s.png

Thanks to all

I think it´s the "MultiHome=192.168.1.6" in your commandline that messing things up for you, if im not mistaken that restricts your server to your home network
