Help Equipping Tek Gear that was gifted

I was recently gifted some Tek Gear in the game. (On an un-official server). I've learned all the engrams, but can't put any element in the suit, or equip it. I was able to craft a piece of armor (helmet) at the tek bench and immediately equip that with no problem. Any thoughts on what I might need to do differently? The armor was gifted from someone outside of my tribe, and may have been crafted on a different server. (same server owner).

Are you sure you have the TEK engrams?

Yes. I had to be level 85 to learn them. (when I received the gift my character wasn't there yet.) I leaned all of the armor ones and then tried. I was able to wear the piece crafted on our own tek bench, just not the armor I was gifted. Talk about frustrating!

Is your server using the TekBench mod?

That stuff is completely differnet from Vanilla.

I have to assume the answer is yes. Having crafted a tek bench after all... I'll have to try looking though there as well. Thanks! If you think of anything else, I'm all ears!

If the stuff you were given is Vanilla tek gear you can't use it without the vanilla tek engram.
TekBench stuff is completely different with it's own set of engrams.

Yup. Unless you've killed bosses to unlock the grams, you can't use it.

The TekHelper mod unlocks the Vanilla engrams, which is pretty much required if you want to use the Structures Plus tek set beacuse it requires the vanilla engram to be unlocked before you can unlock the S+ engram.

It may be vanilla. I was able to find out it was crafted by a server admin some time ago and then ultimately not needed by the gifter.

I'm not sure, but it does have the S+ mod, so I'm guessing it probably does have it.

If the points engrams don't cover the learned (boss) engrams that would make sense as to why I can wear one, but not the other.
