Thanks for the link, its an interesting read.
So the cluster via ASM can only work if connected to remotely, not locally...thats a shame.
Yeah, I couldn't create a cluster locally. While just transferring to a different would have been nice, this other way is just like SP to be honest.
I guess a VPN would work too.
After doing some digging it can be done, you need to run a linux OS for your router called DD-WRT which will enable you to disable 'Filter WAN NAT Redirection' so you can access the cluster via LAN.
It's a bit of a PITA for a single clustered server though.
Nothing in OP about using clusters, that was a suggestion from someone else mid way through the discussion and i think it is just confusing him more. Might not have the issues he is having if he doesn't cluster his servers.
Thats why i deleted my reply, i realised you were probably replying to the Original post rather than what the OP and I were discussing.
If you read the thread though and not just the OP, you would see that he wants to host multiple maps using ASM and clusters are the easiest way to go(well apparently not if you want to LAN host exclusively though :)!
lol. ninjas everywhere. all good :)
I cannot access my router to do anything to it. Since I have managed internet through my apartment complex, they won't allow anyone that isn't the ISP into the router settings and try explaining what you want to do to the tech guys.
I wanted them to forward certain ports when the managed internet started and they couldn't do it. That was tier 3 support.
I got it to work this other way so I'm happy. Haven't been to a cave yet, but I imagine it'll be filled with dinos and that is what started me trying to get this all to work. Lack of dinos in the caves on single player.
You just have to rename the character file to your steam64ID
I simply upload my character in an obelisk.
Save the server.
Stop the server.
Change the map in the launch file
Start server.
All files for all maps are in the same folder.
Thanks for that. If only Asus would add this feature my router
