Firefly Online Cortex

Response From Spark Plug Games
On June 21, I sent an email to Spark Plug games asking about the rumors. Here is the reponse I got:

"We are not allowed to make any comments other than 'please contact Fox or QMx for more information'. The internet is indeed full of rumors, and we don't tend to follow or subscribe to most of them."

I followed up by asking how to contact Fox, since it's a big company. The reply:

"I wish I had more I could offer. In regards to Fox, I wish I had a decent number that I could give you (legally) but unfortunately the general information below is all I am authorized to disclose: Email fdeent@gmail.com." [He also included a mailing address.]

I sent an email to QMX Interactive through their website and the actual QMX homepage, as well as to Fox Digital Entertainment. Of note is that Firefly Online is not mentioned on the QMX Interactive web page, and clicking on "Firefly Online" at the bottom of the QMX Online web page brings up a blank web page. (Though their link to KeepFlying.com works.) I sent QMX my iTunes recipt number for the BDH package I bought from them, proving I'm a paying customer, so hopefully they will respond.

Gotta say, the fact that the company supposedly developing the game can't comment on the game is worrying. If there are legal tie-ups with Fox, as rumors suggest and SP implies, I honestly don't see why the company would go be potentially wasting their efforts on any development, let alone an alpha test. Feel free to contact these folks for yourselves, though.

Thanks for the info, Wolfrick. Let us know where it goes from here.
Thanks, Wolfrick!
This is nothing more than a 'gag order' from Fox to no longer disclose information until Beta is ready. The devs were constantly keeping people in the loop and answering questions in the beginning, but they are biting off more than they can chew, as the development is continuing, things they said just a month early was no longer true, so they now just keep silent until everything developing actually solidifies. Please be patient.
Exactly. It is nice to see them say so directly. Not that it'll stop any of the trolls, but hey, it's something. Having a gag order suggests the possibility that ther'es something they need to keep quiet *about*.

In any case, it's out of the devs' hands until Fox says otherwise. I'm willing to wait.
Wolf don't let some of the folks around here get to ya. That's about as close to official as we've had recently... Also confirms there IS something going on legal wise.
And I'm glad to see someone actually DOING something to find out information. Good on ya, Wolfrick.
I've made 2 purchases from QMX and using my order number I've sent them replies asking about the game. I've gotten no replies, so if a $50 purchase gets me nothing , I'm not holding my breath on the $5 BDH one :) Good Luck contacting QMX cause the 3 purchases I've made had 3 different return addresses. Makes me think there's something shady going on.
Email QmX and ask them when you might expect their 1:124 scale, 27 inch long artisan model of the Serenity to be available again. Yes, there's a place to put an email addy for news, but for $7500 I expect personalized service. (It was $9000 when it was first offered.)
Quick update, though not a lot new to add.

Never got a response to the first QMx email I sent on July 25. On July I sent a follow-up email from a different address, asking if it was a monitored email address. (Didn't mention the word "Firefly" in that email.) Got a response in 30 minutes confirming that QMx does respond to questions sent to help@quantummechanix.com.

So I asked again about the status of the game. Less than 20 minutes later I recieved a reply that my question had been forwarded "accordingly."

Sounds like a brush off, but the CS rep did say to let them know fi there's anything they can do. Figure in the very likely event I don't hear anything back, I'll press for a definition of "accordingly."

Yep was likely forwarded to his trashcan in his mail app/program...
QMx seems like a bunch of douchbags to me.
Looks like Reavers are here in this thread too...
Sam, all those Reavers were once Browncoats, and they may someday be Browncoats again. Besides, FireflyFan5 isn't really a Reaver, he's just frustrated, like many others.
Sam I think Hooks has a valid point here.... He just showed up pretty much and had all this info we've been gathering dumped in his lap... whether it was official or not... there was a lot to take in and not all of it was gonna sit well with people. Think Hooks and I both knew that when we started digging for info, but good OR bad people had a right to know.
It's fine...so much angst, though. Let's be happy that there will be a game...and that it will be awesome
