Making a race feeding on others
Is there a possibility to have a race mechanic which exterminates and absorbs all the other living things? like Stellaris done. But not a hivemind style complex one.. just a carnivor race whos feed on others.. getting bonuses with feeding and hated by others..

We have plans for a few new DLC / expansion races after release, and I don't want to spoil anything but we have a few cool ideas to work on including a new Organic archetype with new unique gameplay. A race that gets a huge bonus by consuming conquered planets' populations sounds interesting, we'll definitely hold onto that idea :D.

Wow, i did not expect an answer and i got a positive one!

Yes, consuming others for bonuses, even creating unique things with consuming enough.. there was a very old 4x space game which i forgot it's name. There is a "space dragons" race which are huge creatures feeds on planet populations.. you can choose the consuming rate so sometimes you can clean a planet for big resourse at short term or you can balance it to not wipe the planet but make it a farm.. but sadly developers erased the race with a big patch because the balancing/AI problems.. a good and unqiue attemt but failed sadly..

So a race which can use any planet with life as a "farm" to create it's own organic ships or mutate them to bigger ones. Maybe create some huge space creatures with giving whole planet. They can capture other races to bring to their farm planets.. but i would like to see the diplomatic options and quotes with other races..

Just please make them real space creatures.. not humanoid or such..

As for old games with such a mechanic, there's the Harvesters in Master of Orion 3... The game has it's downsides, though.

I was mostly annoyed that there were no range-limitaions for ships anymore, while diplomacy *did* have a range-restriction - making the early game a lot more hastily and mostly ruining diplomacy.
Being mostly restricted to Starlanes also was a big downside compared to the predecessor.

On the up side, though, species do have different physical preferences - i.e. temperature / atmosphere pressure - and it was one of the first 4X-games with a threedimensional starmap (although that doesn't really impact gameplay there because of the starlane-restriction).
