What new features will be added?
I'm not intending to make any more major changes, now that I've added online co-op. There may be still a few small bug fixes. The game might also get translated into more languages (see below).

Will there be trading cards?
There's a discussion about that here. I'm not doing the artwork myself as I don't think my skills are up to it. If any fans want to contribute, that would be great! Just get in touch[] and I will send you a spec and some assets. One person has already done some nice zombie emoticons.[]

Will there be a sequel?
I'm working on one :)

What will be in the sequel?
Everyone (including myself) has lots of ideas for this :) I'm always interested to hear what people would like, but it's probably not worth writing a long list here at this point. I'll just put a couple of things I'm sure I'd want for now:
  • The ability to customize your character's appearance at the start
  • A more moddable structure with editing tools for quests and the terrain
  • Melee weapons
When will any of this happen?
I can't give ETAs, sorry. I work on this game in my spare time, sometimes that means I don't get much done for a while.

Will it be translated into more languages?
People have been working on translations for several different languages including French and German, which are now complete! It's a big job, around 45000 words across 4350 lines or so. If you want to help with this effort for your own language, I've now made the translation sheets available online via Google docs, from which you can download them and see them in the game. Contact me[] if you would like to be added as an editor for any of these languages:

French - Done!
German - Done!
Russian - Completed but apparently needs improvement
Portuguese - In progress
Brazilian Portuguese - In progress
Polish - In progress
Turkish - No work done
Hungarian - Done!
Spanish - Done!
Italian - Completed but apparently needs improvement

Here's how to see any of these languages in-game:
  • From the Google Docs page go to File / Download As / Tab-separated values
  • Save it to the directory Survivalist is installed to, normally this will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Survivalist
  • You may need to rename it, it should be called (for example): "German.tsv" or "French.tsv".
  • Run the game, go to Settings & Info / Languages and select the new language!
What about Chinese or Japanese?
Sorry I cant do translations into Chinese or Japanese as my font doesn't support it and XNA isn't designed to allow the huge character sets.

Will you include character traits like Diabetes or Irritable Bowel Syndrome in the new customization?
Because I just really haven't got my fill yet of Post apocolypse diet related diseases in the world of survivalist.

Dear developer,
I know this game still in development but there are a few things that will require your attention at first hand before you launch a multiplayer update.
Firstly I would like to give my congrats for having this idea of creating such game even if lacks in gameplay dynamics or having the possibility to create your own path as a Sandbox game.
Try to add some things like:
--> An isolated "Tutorial" at "Main Menu" because the campaign looks just like a tutorial.
--> A way to drop items
--> Sandbox modes ?
--> And anything that you find that would make the game better

I hope you pay attention at this minor issues before making any big step.

So we gots an FAQ to refer to but I'd like to ask, would it be alright to throw up a "Suggestions" discussion? I understand you aren't intending to do any major changes to the current game (Its damned good as is) and you have indicated an intention to begin a sequel (double thumbs up from this guy!) So having a "Suggestions" discusion might benefit you with a larger degree of insight as to what players want.

Actually like what FreskMaia and Zamargi have suggested, I have some suggestions myself but don't wish to clutter the FAQ section more than I have to.

IBS, now there's an idea. The next Survivalist will be all about trying to negotiate a post-apocalyptic world while dealing with the ravages of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Feel free to make suggestions either here or in another thread, I always read them even if I don't reply. But I don't want to start an official suggestions thread at this point because it'll make people think stuff is coming soon when it isn't... I've been pretty busy with other things these last couple of months and haven't had much time to work on Survivalist. Except for adding IBS of course, I'm going to get right on that.
Good lord, if I didn't have a basic understanding of what IBS can do I'd find it pretty bloody funny, stll funny as a whole mind.
Seeing as you read suggestions here I might as well throw a few ideas up while they're bouncing around my head

  • As afore mentioned definitly needs a sandbox/non campaign style thing, something where you start up with barely enough rescources to get yourself a basic living and a procedurally generated terrain set. Maybe three survivors like you, more or less, begin with now; two with randomly generated traits and one the player identifies as "Theirs" Lot of work I know so thats probably something for a sequel or an "In my own time." kinda thing

  • MOAR ILLNESS! Or stuff like addictions, honestly I love how you can grab smokes for someone and they start getting cancer, though I'm curios as to whether that goes away eventually, for instance only giving them one packet of smokes a week say. Totally understand if it didn't work like that however.
    Was thinking alcoholism and painkiller addictions would be sometihng to conider adding so if a character gets a hold of enough items they don't wish to give up they'll eventually OD.
    Maybe tihngs like the common cold which simply attracts zombies from further out or the flu which means your favorite go to character i bed ridden for a week (Drinking slightly more and eating a lil less even?)

  • Lastly I would love to see some chat icons, its last cause its sometihng thats not really important. Maybe just of the infected and the three main characters or people who play important roles. haven't thought much about it beyond having the Green, Blue, Red and White strain infected heads (Is it possible to see their eyes? I just thought of that) And the vaccines for them which have it.

    I still feel bad for cluttering the FAQ up. Anyway I hope these give you a bit of insight or something similar, also hope things ease up a bit for you a well!

I really like this game. Is there a possibility you could add findable clothing? and also Would it ever be possible to add leather into the game to make a back pack? Awesome game. Love it

@GameWare: Something similar to findable clothing, if you beat the game, you unlock cheat mode. Which, along with other things, adds A CHARACTER EDITOR OMG HECK YES GIMMIE SOME. But seriously, findable clothing is a good idea, maybe for the sequel.

You could have Pretty sure everyone would just feed their vegan to the zombies erm i mean infected...

Actual medical Conditions just for fun (from a future nurse):
Asthma: doesn't have as much stamina and can have attacks which can paralyze them if they don’t have inhaler and can lead to death. Fatigued easily.
Anemia (can cause SOB) need blood products on a regular basis. When injured can die much quicker.
Obesity (look at 'murica) lowers stamina, requires more food to be satisfied etc. Easily fatigued.
General allergies to certain foods (limits what they can forage). Allergic reactions if you are not paying attention can cause anaphylaxis and death if not treated.
Crohn’s disease: causes low energy limited diet and when they have flare ups can leave them unable to work.
Cushing’s disease: thin extremities, lower immune system to fight infections, easily injured.

But on a more serious note Co-op/Multiplayer would be awesome. Keep up the great work.

Recently there was a huge patch, I'm guessing for the Beta branch, where can I find patch notes for that? Didn't see anything on your site last time I looked.

It was for the Beta branch, and it adds Russian as someone kindly did a translation for me. We're still working on it but it should be done soon, then I will make it live in the main branch and do a news post about it.

Aha alright, thanks Bob.
I am having fun with the game!

It's a little crazy at times though, I feel like I have to run back and save the fools in my camp to often :steamfacepalm: and I wish that there was a way to minimize the frequency of the random raids function. This is why.

After starting a few new games I decided to move my whole camp to the police station. Now all of the quest are randomly breaking/failing? not sure why. And those raiders seem stronger and relentless which is fine but they come a little bit to fast!, I guess what I mean is that I wish the player could tweak the timer a tiny bit to suit so that survivabilty is possible in the outskirts in a run through!

The fire idea is cool but having these guys torch my buildings (and all my belongings) in seconds is very frustrating.

*One other lil thing really bothers me is when you try to build a fence and the lil fella walks away I can't see anything lol. I have been using 'pause' to remedy this situation but it seems like it would make alot of sense to actually put a light source on the build tool ' just my thoughts, maybe i just need glasses.

Other than that I just wanted you all to know that your game is A hit with me! It is a rare gem and alot and fun so thank you for the good times! :steamhappy:

(EDIT: after some extend playtime I have almost beat the game, I realize now that the mechanics of the game are what is causing the quest breaking by the armed gangs actually going right into the allies/friendly camps and killing the questgivers off, as they are trying to get to my own camp. I suppose this cannot be fixed and the next game ill be sure to try to avert this, though it would be nice to build wherever you want to, im still having fun.)
