From what i heard they thought they got hacked by some Russians but now think it may have been boehmia themselves. Maybe trying to get everyone over to arma 3.
I heard it was the russian govt hacking the game so it becomes more "pro russian"

Yeah i heard the same. All i can say is bohemia can suck my fat one cos I uave uninstalled their games and will install or buy another one again. Who the ♥♥♥♥ are they to say what people can and cant do.

To do the donations for server stuff you have to go talk to bohemia first. Its one of their big rules. Server probaly didnt do that.

It was a rule they changed later from what I heard and ♥♥♥♥ bohemia, if they dont want donator load outs then they should pay for everyones servers. As a previous server owner myself I know how hard it is to get people to donate.

Before 1st Feb, 2015, you were not allowed to monetise your server, and this included asking for donations to help run it. BI did however turn a blind eye as long as you were not overt in the way you asked for donations and there was no material advantage given to those who donated over those who didn't.

After 1st Feb, 2015, BI brought in stricter controls on what constituted a monetised server and what exactly you could and couldn't do. These are outlined in the Server Monetization Rules[www.bistudio.com] and the Server Monetization FAQ[www.bistudio.com].

The unfortunate thing here, is this mess could have been avoided by them simply adhering to the rules as they are laid out and they would still be up now. But they didn't and they found out that they were not untouchable.

They changed the rule because of the amount of 'donator loadouts' that were appearing on servers. This in effect constitutes a commercial use which was already against the Terms and Conditions of the license agreement that you and everybody else signed up for on installing the game.

Anyway, this is a moot point. All the rules around monetisation apply to ArmA 3 only. ArmA 2, DayZ are not allowed to be monetised in any shape or form including 'donator loadouts'. However, bearing in mind the difference between donations and monetization, you can accept donations for such servers.

Well guess what? They ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up because they have lost a lot of customers because of it. I will never touch their products again.

Youre one customer. They wont be affected. Bohemia is a great company. They outlined their rules and noone bothered to look them up. Rules are rules.

There are lots more and if they have the attitude that "your one customer" then they will pay the price as its often one customer that can severly hurt company profits. Take Vodafail for example. One guy set up a website and facebook page about vodafones terrible service here in Australia and it hurt them badly. Ive already cost them about 4 customers, and they have probably told their friends as well. Its all it takes.

One person is all it takes and yes rules are rules, but you dont want them to cost you money.
