It isn't semantics.. A crack is the total removal of a protection, a bypass circumvents it, the current HV is a bypass as it doesn't remove Denuvo. There is a reason why HV releases are being nuked left, right and centre (being nuked means it doesn't meet the standards to be considered a cracked game and are labelled as nuked by most of the warez council, and then starts being removed from TSs, FTPs etc.)

The current HV bypass is potentially bad for your system, it disables the digital certificate check for binaries, you know when you run something and it pops up asking if you want to run this.. those aren't digitally certified binaries - but with some common sense you know what you are running is safe or not. However with HV off this means anything can be run with no heads up if it is certified or not, so you could potentially end up with someone attaching anything to a binary to run on your system not just at Ring-0 level but also Ring -1 which is even worse.

Even before that, but I wish they just admit they are getting the game due to greed rather than the usual 5 excuses to try and feel better about it. LOL.

Even back when it was 8 bit computers, tape to tape copies were normal back then, and some games came with protections like LensLok which wasn't a great idea as it didn't work on larger TVs. But the usual was words from the manual on page x and word y type thing, also colour charts that ask the 4 colours for a position on the chart a la Jet Set Willy as an example.

Even Nintendo fell foul of copying, using Disk Doctors which would dump the rom onto floppies for both NES and SNES and even N64.

The majority buying this game probably don't even know what Denuvo even is or that it exists.
