I've been waiting for an indie dev to remake some MUDs from the zMUD days...i know we have MMOs and such now but there was so much more to be done in these old ascii games feature wise, sp games and muds. Can't wait for this either it's been a few years since I played the ascii version, pretty surprised when I saw it pop up on the Steam don't know how I missed the greenlight haha.

Er, you talk as if those things are gone. They're still around, actually.

I think i'll play a little in ASCII, but i'm very glad that you made a tiled version.
Can't wait November 16th to search after the Carpenter !!
(and to get killed before finding him :tshock:)

Never was a fan of ASCII tbh , even play Dwarf Fort with a slight graphic mod, but what I am a fan of is good rogue-likes with tons of character classes, encounters, replayablility, multiple endings, multiple approaches to situations, proper random generation. Here's hoping the ADOM remake will fit that. I am looking forward to playing it a ton. Next to Swords of the Stars the Pit,Dungeons of Dredmor,Tales of Ma'jel 1Quest , and Rogue Tale I hope this will become a welcome part of my rogue-like family.

I do like the new graphic interface and prefer playing with it now. But also I have played adom for years as an ascii version. Will absolutely buy this.

ToME also has an ASCII mode, and its on steam.

Nice :^) I played around with ADOM years ago. Do want, will buy!

Hell, I'll instabuy this no matter how this turns out in steam, Adom is possibly my most played game if you exclude all MMORPG*s . :D

I OWE that much to this maker !

My HyperRogue also has an ASCII mode, and it is on Steam.

Still, ADOM is probably the first one which looks pure, like a text terminal. ToME has lots of graphical elements (at least that's how it appears on screenshots) and due to the font and spacing used it looks nothing like a terminal, and HyperRogue uses hyperbolic geometry.

I have the free ADOM with ASCII but I dont really play it, I play DCSS a lot. I like its Tileset and that it has online severs to play on. I hope this game does well on Steam so other devs that make RL's will make the move to better tilesets and UI...but I do like ASCII and its cool its in.

I think caves of qud has an ascii mode as well. i could be wrong though.

And the best thing is that you don't have to restart ADOM or even navigate menus to change between ASCII and tiles. Just press F10 and you'll change instantly.

I prefer playing with ASCII but sometimes I want to see how something would look in the tiles, so that functionality is pure gold.

I think ADOM is also the first game on Steam which meets all requirements of true Roguelike - Berlin Interpretation.

It's not the first to have ASCIi (ToME and CoQ come to mind).
This is the only one of the three I do actually play on ASCII though, as somehow the tiles make me carsick for whatever reason.
