Volcano & Heart of Ancardia - !!Spoiler!!

Hey guys,

I just got to Lv 16 of the volcano, and the Heart of Ancardia is nowhere to be found. Is it a bug? I really want to keep on playing this character (top 5 score potential), but I don't want to leave this area if there is still a possibility to obtain the amulet.

Sorry, all I can offer are basic suggestions; perhaps a monster picked it up? Did you try detect item? Magic map?

Yeah I did all of that unfortunately. Magic map, item detection and mob detection. The respawn rate is very low for some reason, so it's easy to teleport to each enemy as they respawn.
Also, I used a wand of item detection as soon as I got to lv 16... No amulet.

This may sound stupid, but try digging out the walls? I mean, you’ve already tried all the decent options, right?

I dug maybe 50% of the level, including everything the in the middle of the map.
At this point I believe it's a bug.
Maybe it has to do with the order I did the quest. Once I got the stone heart I immediately currupted it in order to make the volcanos spawn. Before going in, I went back to see Rolf, gave him the heart, received the shield and axe, and then I went to the volcano. Maybe I should have kept the heart with me for some reason... But it woudn't make any sense quest-wise

I feel you should try posting this on the main forum, grond is still figuring out bugs, he may have an idea.

Yeah I will do so, but I just wanted to end this adventure. Not #1 unfortunately , but all time 2nd :( But it's better than nothting, but I also beet another of my very own HC in the top 10 so yayy ;)

I'll write something here regarding tis thread's issue as sonne as I get some.

Heart of Ancardia was actually generated according to the .flg. I wonder if tiles are to blame; the amulet is not exactly easy to spot if it's sitting in magma.

YES!! I had the same problem! About two days ago I was playing for archmage - and almost there mind you - and I went down to the bottom of the volcano. I didn't have item detect, but I had monster detect and magic mapping + teleport. I mapped the entire floor, and no heart of ancardia appeared on the map (when magic mapping normally items on the ground will be mapped too). I figured that a monster had picked it up, so i walked around, filled the holes in my map and killed everything 3-4 times, read monster detection scroll and killed everything again. still no heart of ancardia. in the end i left, deciding to come back after i had made archmage and check again. I died, but in my .flg it said that heart of ancardia had been generated, so i figured i had missed it. but since op had a very similar issue, perhaps there is a bug with it spawning?

(to give an idea of the time i spent searching it was about 15-20 irl mins. i doubt that i missed it because of human error, especially since i killed all the monsters multiple times, double checked i was on Vo:16 and checked wiki again)

Edit: just remembered, i did not dig the floor or anything, and i checked the volcano before giving rolf the heart (i died before i could do that lol).

Good idea guys. I had a look as well and yes, it says that I got it!.. But I swear, I searched that place for an hour +.

So this is exactly what I am doing and I found the amulet on LV 16 of the volcano. It was in the lava so very dificult to see. I you use a detect item wand, you'll see a very small red dot somewhere.

This time I kept the Stone Heart with me and therefor didn't complete Rolf's quest beforehand. Not sure if it changed anything.
