1. To fix the compatibility problem, just find where your "steamapps" directory is on your pc, then click common\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction\src\system
2. Right click on "conviction_game.exe" go to the "compatibility" tab and select "Run this program in compatibility mode for windows 7"
At first it complained about the not supported OS and error 1 (on Windows 10 Pro 64bit). Got those dealt with, but it just puts up the banner from Steam saying it's starting, then UPlay starts and says it is loading the game. Then UPlay closes it's window (but is still in the system tray) and Steam goes back to it's splash screen and tries loading the game again. It keeps doing this until I interrupt it by killing conviction_game.exe and UPlay in Task Manager. And if I let it loop too many times, UPlay then says my account has been temporarily suspended due to "bad logins or activations".
Hmmm, so is your Uplay app completely up to date? Sometimes restarting the computer works. I've had a Steam swapping with Uplay bug like that before, but it can be easily fixed by restarting the computer or quitting uplay and restarting it after a while. Hopefully it should work now that you've killed "conviction_game.exe"
You might have had bad luck making too many attempts to log into Uplay, because when i usually kill conviction_game.exe, it will work again, but only sometimes. Uplay is VERY BUGGY, i hate it as well sometimes
This is also already in guides if you look for it :)
C:\ProgramData\Ubisoft\Conviction is the correct one. The file should be named "ConvictionUserPC.ini"
It is in the guide i have posted above :)
At the moment you're looking at the wrong "ConvictionUserPC.ini" in the main steamapps directory
I looked up that error, and all you need to do is to uninstall Uplay from your computer and reinstall with the proper version of UPlay. Go to Ubisoft's official website to find "UPlay" (now called "Ubisoft Connect"), and download the installer for it.:

1. Multi-core CPU, it might be the core affinity. It kept setting core affinity to 0 core on my multi-core CPU. Every level load / after every cut scene I had to force it to use all cores with Process Lasso. That helped significantly.
2. For SLI I had issues with performance; I used NVidia settings to force AFR type 2; seemed to alleviate my issues there as well.
Just a heads up.
