Most common "Can't Launch", "Game Crash" and "Slow Game" issues with solutions.
Heya gamers! Here's a list of some of the most common issues with Rise to Ruins on some machines, and how to fix them. Most of them are related to user's hardware, but are usually a quick and easy fix. If none of these solutions work for you, open up a new thread and I'll try to help you out the best I can. :)

Note that this list is strictly for common issues, random version-specific crashes and bugs will not be listed here.

Everything is sorted from "Most to least" likely solution for that problem. Most solutions assume you are running a Windows machine, but the solutions are mostly the same for all operating systems.

"Game crashes on launch, no errors, no logs. I just see the pop up splash page and then nothing happens."
- Update your GPU drivers! This is almost always a driver issue.
(Intel HD[www.intel.com], NVIDIA[www.nvidia.com], ATI[support.amd.com])
- If you're using a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus, be sure to set your laptop to use the dedicated GPU[gpu.userbenchmark.com]. Sometimes NVIDIA Optimus gets confused, and tries to revert back to your Intel HD GPU with OpenGL games.
- If you're using an NVIDIA GPU, very rarely, Geforce Experience[www.geforce.com] can also cause this issue. Be sure to update it as well!
- Sometimes Steam can cause this issue, try opening the game's install folder and running RtR64.exe or Core.jar directly (If on Linux, RtR.sh, or Mac, RtR.command)

"Game crashes randomly between changing states, like clicking "World map" or "Visiting region" but there is no crash log."
- If you're using an NVIDIA GPU, Geforce Experience[www.geforce.com] can cause this issue.
- Update your GPU drivers!
Intel HD[www.intel.com], NVIDIA[www.nvidia.com], ATI[support.amd.com])
- You may be low on system memory, try rebooting. :)

"The game crashes and I get a log that says something about 'Pixel format not accelerated' near the bottom"
- Your GPU drivers are out of date. Update your GPU drivers!
Intel HD[www.intel.com], NVIDIA[www.nvidia.com], ATI[support.amd.com])
- If you're using a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus, be sure to set your laptop to use the dedicated GPU[gpu.userbenchmark.com]. Sometimes NVIDIA Optimus gets confused, and tries to revert back to your Intel HD GPU with OpenGL games, and more often than not, your Intel HD drivers are out of date.

"The game loads insanely slow, sometimes 2-3 minutes just to load the main menu. But I have great hardware specs!"
- There is a bug in a few virus and malware scanners that can cause this. The worst offender is a Russian malware scanner called "Dr. Web". Others that have been known to cause this are IBM Rapport, BitDefender and AVG. But even if you don't use any of those three, try turning off your malware/virus scanner and relaunch the game.
- Reboot your PC, and turn off all third party applications. If the problem is resolved, turn them back on 1 by 1 until the problem pops back up. (Also, make a new forum post and let me know what caused it!)

"I am on a decent gaming laptop with a good dedicated GPU but even early game runs really slow. But I have great hardware specs!?"

"Steam says the game is already running, but it is not!?"
- Open up your task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC), go to the details tab. Close out all instances of javaw.exe and try to restart the game.
- Steam can sometimes "transfer" the active game state to the next application that launches. When Rise to Ruins crashes, your default text editor (usually notepad) will open up automatically. For some reason, Steam assumes this is "the game running". So be sure to close notepad out entirely if that happens.
- Restart Steam!
