FAQ
If you use multiple inputs like a keyboard/stick combo, the new Auto Input Select setting can cause the HUD layout and input prompts to keep changing, as this feature auto-detects the input you're using. You can disable it on the Controls menu manually select the input you want prompts for.

Soundtrack
The Sublevel Zero soundtrack, composed by the incredible Will Bedford, is available to buy either on Steam or from Will's Bandcamp page![music.willbedfordmusic.co.uk]

Redux Update
If you prefer the pre-update version of the game, or want to check it out for old time's sake, it's preserved forever in cyber-amber on the branch legacy. Just remember that if you're reading this from 65 million years in the future, trying to inject its DNA into frogs will probably cause lots of unforeseen deaths and spawn a multitude of mediocre sequels.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Corrupted Data
Occasionally steam cloud sync can corrupt config files. If the game fails to launch or hangs at the splash screen, try the following:
  1. Go to Sublevel Zero's "Properties" in Steam
  2. Disable cloud sync
  3. Go to the game folder on your hard drive
  4. Rename, move or delete PlayerData/Control and PlayerData/Settings
  5. Launch the game
  6. Re-enable cloud sync

Game hangs loading first level
This is a recent issue some people are experiencing. Unfortunately we don't know why it's happening, but the current theory is a recent Windows update has caused a problem with the older version of Unity the game needs. However, the game will load - it'll just take significantly longer than usual.

Windows
If the game crashes at launch, try:
  1. Go to Sublevel Zero's "Properties" in Steam
  2. Click "Set Launch Options"
  3. Enter -force-d3d9

Linux
If the game crashes at launch and you have an AMD GPU, try:
  1. Go to Sublevel Zero's "Properties" in Steam
  2. Click "Set Launch Options"
  3. Enter -screen-quality noaa

If the game crashes at launch and you have an Intel GPU, try:
  1. Go to Sublevel Zero's "Properties" in Steam
  2. Disable the steam overlay

If the game won't launch, try:
  1. Go to Sublevel Zero's "Properties" in Steam
  2. Click "Set Launch Options"
  3. Enter LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH" %command%

If you use multiple monitors and the game starts too large for a single monitor, try:
  1. Go to Sublevel Zero's installation directory
  2. Edit PlayerData/Settings/system.json
  3. Set a smaller resolution

If you see flashing white lights or strange large black triangles, set Volumetric Lighting to Static or Off in the Video menu.
