WMD has issues.
I gave WMD another shot today because I finally had a day off, and within an hour or two I had to exit the game because it was so annoying.

The majority of the players are total noobs, which shouldn't mean anything, but since this is WMD and people can craft, noobs are more dangerous than ever.

A lot of people are griefers who will 'focus fire' on someone for no reason other than that they know that person is better than they are. There's nothing that I can do in a match when multiple people decide to take me out. I can hold them off for a while, but due to a lack of defensive options in this game, eventually I am going to get lamed to death in one way or another.

Vehicles are trash and ruin the balance of the game, especially random vehicle drops.

Crafting is a horrible idea. The coin crates from the past games were more sensible, because at least then we could keep track of how many crates they have collected and have a sense of what they could possibly purchase. With crafting crates, the amounts are basically random, and since people can craft anything, there's almost no point in keeping track of what your enemy has used... it doesn't even matter anymore.

We lack the options / customization needed to make the game suck less.

Nobody ever chats, and if they do, it's usually trash talk via people ganging up on me.

The skills and strategy needed to excel in past Worms games is barely relevant in WMD. It's not totally absent, but many games end as a result of some luck-based factor.

In short, I just don't ENJOY playing WMD unless crafting and vehicles are turned off, and even then you still have to deal with griefing idiots who don't understand the concept of fair play / ABL. I don't regret giving this game a negative review for one second. It looks nice and COULD be an awesome title, but Team17 have so dramatically screwed up the Worms formula that the experience ends up being sour.

Crafting and vehicles need to fu!king go, seriously.

In other words, the only time I think that it would be sensible / tactical to attack the person in last place is if they are right by the worm you start with (no select worm'ing), and only if you aren't in first place, and only if there isn't a play that you could pull off that would withdraw you from that last place team and do damage to the team with the HP lead. That's tactics, people.

we need some defensive weapons to protect ourselves against getting jumped by everyone...invisiblity, freeze, something tricky... sentry alone doesn't cut it.

Girder starter pack, freeze, teleshield, teleswap, lucky charm, worship, stick-up, knockout, emergency teleport, mole, termites, petrol bomb, scales of justice, bow and arrow, earthquake, lightning strike, marked for death, dragonball... should ALL be included, and then some. For now it is far too easy for people. I just played a big free-for-all earlier (6 players) and the guy who won literally did nothing but spam drones for crates, hid at the bottom, and crafted armageddon. It's just so frustrating to play this game when losses don't come from being outplayed, but by cheesy luck. I'm tired of this crap.

In the last 2 days I've played maybe 6 or 7 matches and lost like 4 or 5 matches and ONLY because of getting ganged up on and/or crafting shenanigans. I'm a really good player, and for me to lose so much is proof (to me) that something is wrong with the game, both in terms of the way others play and in terms of crafting. Take away crafting from these people and they magically suck. Gee, I wonder why? Maybe it's because crafting turns the game into a ♥♥♥♥fest. In Clan Wars or any of the previous games I never had this problem.

Also, finding anyone to play custom schemes with all of the lucky elements turned off is super hard because most people just wanna play the easiest version of Worms possible so they have a better chance of winning. That, and the game is dead most of the time anyway. If I can get people to join, a lot of people quit as soon as they realize they can't jetpack every other turn and drop dynamite or holys. Traditional Worms skills barely even matter in WMD. There's no long-term strategy. There's no real emphasis on conservation, or keeping track of what is going on. It's so easy to have more or less the perfect item you need to win that the game ends up being a roll of the dice rather than a calculated effort.

If someone has a worm near me that'll kill one of mine or do lots of damage, I'll obviously kill him. I don't give a damn if he's first or last. You're not supposed to be nice, you're supposed to be the last man standing, no matter what.
```skunk3``` Jan 23, 2017 @ 4:00pm
I understand that if your turn starts with the worm next to that player's worm, and if they are a direct threat with nobody else around, but to single one team out and attack them no matter what until they are dead is a different matter. I'm not talking about mere convenience, I'm talking about a vendetta.
Another thing to remember is sometimes it is strategic in the long run to allow one of your worms to be damaged or killed... well, at least in any other Worms game aside from WMD. Strategy doesn't really matter in WMD.
Anyone else feel like ganking up on skunk3 if you see him in the game, just to see what happens?
```skunk3``` Jan 23, 2017 @ 7:01pm
You're welcome to try. I'm used to getting griefed. By this point, I'd be more surprised to see people NOT gang up on me.

Skunk3 - you made some great points in your last posts, I hope devs will listen, and push the game in the better direction.

Just played an online match where because someone used a drone they were able to seal me into a building and pound endless bunker busters. Somehow he "saw" through the building even though the drone didn't even go inside it and I moved out of the windows, and moved every turn ._.

Don't you just love getting r@ped by point and click weapons that require zero skill? Me too.

Skunk is the biggest whiner I've ever known. End of discussion.

- Tons of same text, always.

- Constant complaints on crafting and vehicles. It is an obligatory part of a gameplay. Do not pay attention to ranked in a game, the scheme is awful, as always. Watch to ESL scheme. In recent months it looks very adequately. Can be a bit changed but not much. If you can`t play ESL tournaments (bad timezone) - you can play ESL ladder and invite every player from list to your game at any convenient time for you. But you don't do it. Only you complain of everything in each topic about things which YOU do not like.

- Someone kicked you from 3 (or 4) players game. Omg. Its free for all, here no any rules. If you are playing this mode - you must be ready that another 2 (or 3) players will unite against you. That`s why I am playing 1v1 only. Playing 2v2 in a ranked will be interesting too but for present days - developers have more important problems.

In total.
Why some people think that the gameplay shall be same? They already published "Worms World Party Remastered" and it was a big fail. I prefer "Worms Clan Wars" but I don't suggest to change a gameplay of WMD to the Clan Wars style. I learn to play here with NEW abilities. If you can not play with them - this game is not for you. Stop complaining with words "WMD sucks".

Lets see what will in next update with "Ranked Relaunch". I hope that developers will support people which take part in development of a game (playing ESL regularly) and will ignore unskilled kids which can only complain that they can`t win and therefore "WMD sucks".

i don't think wmd sucks...all it needs is a couple of features, like blacklist so you can avoid lame players

vehicles and crafting are nice innovations otherwise how would this game be any different than previous worms....you gotta add new stuff otherwise there's no point in making sequels.

I'm entitled to my opinion, and spouting off about gameplay elements that I think are a detriment to the game is totally acceptable. If you don't agree, that's fine.

I'm not against innovation; I'm against new gameplay elements that radically alter the fundamental nature of Worms gameplay for the worse. Crafting and vehicles make the game easier and more chaotic. Btw, neither feature are 'obligatory.'

The reason why I don't pay attention to ranked is because the ranking system is bad, and that's exactly why they are fixing it. If it wasn't for me and others complaining about it, Team17 may not have ever decided to scrap that system and replace it with something more in line with an Elo-based system. You're welcome. As far as ESL goes, I work 6 days a week and I simply don't have the time to plan out games, nor do I really care about that league. If I were to play in any external league, it would be TUS-based. I don't wanna go through the work of adding a bunch of people to my friends list and manually scheduling matches just to play something that isn't trash.

You're wrong about how I should expect to get ganged up on. That mindset is *exactly* what is wrong with you newer players. That behavior should not be tolerated. The reason why people play like this is because the games post-WWP lacked global chat and nobody was able to pass on knowledge from the older crowd, except via these forums... but the newbie players didn't wanna listen. Ganging up on one person mercilessly until they are dead isn't kosher, even in a FFA match. ABL as a rule should be the default in any FFA match with 3 or more players just to keep people from indulging in this sort of child-like behavior.

WMD is a game with promise, yet is critically flawed in certain ways. Crafting (and drones) ruins the experience, vehicles ruin the experience. There's a lot of people out there who think they're good at this game, but if you take the luck-based elements away, they can't do anything because they're so used to having those equalizers in place. Simply put, WMD takes less skill to play than the previous titles, generally speaking.

As it stands, the only time I can really enjoy a match is if I host something myself with vehicles turned off, crafting turned off, and crate drops either totally disabled, or set to a VERY small drop chance. Otherwise, I have to deal with vehicles ruining the match, people being able to craft literally anything they need to win (so there's no way to keep track of what is in another player's inventory, and less of an emphasis on conserving one's own items), and on top of all of that, if you show that you know what you're doing, people think it is totally okay to single one person out and attack them until they are completely dead, even if that means wasting their own items in the process, skipping over easier-to-hit enemies, and even giving up position.

Clan Wars suffered from issues related to the 2.5D nature of the game, but the core gameplay itself is superior to WMD because it is far less luck-based. It's kinda odd that I had a ~93% win rate in Clan Wars, yet in WMD my unranked win rate is only around ~60%. The explanation for that is simple... crafting and vehicles. WMD is a noobfest.

As annoying as it is, you really are a fool if you expect people on an online pvp game to be nice and stick to unwritten laws (which they may not even know), sorry
