Any way to see player count before deciding if it's worth buying?

I really enjoyed what I've seen from the free version so far, except for the bots which are really bad.

I couldn't find any server browser or anything similar, only quick join. SteamDB says there are 106 concurrent players, however all the servers I got in quick join had zero, even with skill-based match-making disabled.

I have no idea whether those 106 players are SteamDB bugging or whether they're all in faraway regions. I would rather buy the game at its current price if it had a playerbase, however without a server browser (with non-bot player count) I have no way to know whether I'd be throwing money away or not.

The player count that you see in the free version is accurate: zero. It was popular when it came out but all the players have left for newer games.

The players that Steam and SteamDB report are believed to be people who are playing other games that have been cracked and are using the Toxikk Steam ID instead of the Steam ID of the actual game because Toxikk has a free version.

The bots are actually good at the higher levels. Level 5 bots are decent. At level 7 they're a fun challenge. Level 3 are easy and boring.

The guy who runs the US server prefers level 5 and a lot of them. The guy who runs the EU servers has level 3 for the two of his servers, level 5 for one, and level 7 for one.

It's a good game when real people play, so if your friends sometimes want to play a 1999 style shooter with more modern graphics, you can all do it for free, and buy it if you really get into it.

Steam has a built in server browser that allows you to view all available servers. Mine is currently the only US hosted server at the moment.

The player count is near zero, but not dead. Regular members hang out mainly in the discord (chat.toxikk.com). The count of players you see is mostly due to the game ID being abused for other hacked games, not TOXIKK.

Even for the low cost, the full game allows you to play the custom workshop maps. Most of the current servers all run these custom maps to play on.
