Free but not really?
So what I'm getting here is that the developers are using an loophole in the Steam Store to be able to appear free to sell a part of the game. Would that be accurate? Shouldn't it just either be free entirely rather than this "on sale" kind of crap? This seems like a dodgy marketting stunt for a game with Mixed reviews at the time or writing.

It's more of a technical thing as I recall.
The Steam master servers that are used for it, or something along those lines require a game to use the same ID.
So if you had a free version and a full version seperately, they wouldn't be able to interract with each other online. But having the free version with a "Full game DLC" kind of thing, makes that possible.

So it's more of a technical limitation as I recall. Though I might be wrong. I could also be a cat with a keyboard, determined to take over the world.

Ah I see. Seems fair. I got excited after I saw a game that was free on the main store page with a crossed out normal price, thinking it was one of those "This game is free for a limited time only" cases. Then I got confused seeing that it was not the full game but rather a free edition with restrictions.

Free edtion isn't very restricted though. server browser, bots, custom maps and mutators are locked main features but otherwise you just need unlock maps

Equim finally doing some work around here.
I got some cat snacks if your interested or are a starving cat dev.
its a great game that is free but not pay to win
and with a few limitations

maybe a giveaway on the main store page will bring this underrated game back to life

or a console port as a free to play

because PS4 is lacking free to plays

well good free to plays

there is warframe... yea thats it (im joking plz dont kill me) I think it will make it rise to popularity on consoles and then the success will carry on to PC

Seems like it's just a botmatch without a server browser. Without knowing how alive the game is I wouldn't know if it's worth buying or not. UT/UT3/UT4 all seem pretty dead on the most part. There's Quake Champions, but it's more expensive and basically has the same features disabled.

UT2004 is still active in places. There are some nights I can't get a slot on my favourite Freon mod server.

I hated ut3 movement and graphics so never played it much.

The movement in Toxikk feels very familiar! I'm sorry to have discovered it so late

UT2003 was the hated one for me. UT3 wasn't too bad and I don't know what you mean by the graphics (for 2007 they were good). It does feel a little heavy, bulky and slow compared to ut99, though (something UT4 seemed to address).

This game feels OK, but it lacks a shock rifle for combo (the best weapon ever in the history of gaming :)). It's a shame there's no server browser. If I could see how active it is online then I might have purchased a copy. Any other way to find out?
i purchased the game about a month ago, totally worth it, theres always servers with people playing. I recommend you get the full version, its cheap. Add me if you want a toxikk friend !
