We didn't want to End Run because that felt more like alt-F4ing than a graceful finish.
And not taking every speed/jump aug? What heresy is this! GOTTA GOFAST!
The problem was more that Agnisort is just brutally insane and impossible to navigate on extremely high difficulties. Well, that and the frame-skipping, but that was probably because I skipped huge areas and left lots of mobs loaded in and dragging the game down.
What's the difference between selecting an option through a menu, or walking through a portal for essentially the same thing?
The only difference I can see would be being able to see your scoreboard, but in that case, asking for a scoreboard when selecting to exit the run on an Endless run would be a better idea than a duplicate option that would only appear after level 8.
give up and quit,or face endless struggle.
every stage you step, step closer to death.
there is no victory, but only infinite fail.
Capitalization and correct usage of the spacebar are your friends.
Also, no, infinite fail is not what we experienced. We hit a critical mass where enemies were simply not a threat to us, and bosses were almost as threatening as normal enemies used to be. The only reason we died was due to our computers becoming unable to handle the number of active enemies and coping by frame-skipping, leading to our characters becoming uncontrollable. Even then, if we hadn't wound up in Agnisort; literally any other stage would have been survivable for us.
So, no. We didn't lose, the game became unplayable. I would have liked to gracefully end before then.
unless you are some kind of AI with a computer that can self maintenance forever, you must die due to whatever reason growing bored, getting killed,♥♥♥♥♥♥ by bugs etc etc etc
Your request is like asking for someone to build another set of doors directly next an already existing set of doors -- when there's still 20% of the house left to be constructed.
Ultimately I'd like Endless mode to have an end screen when you select to end a run -- but I'd prefer that no matter what the mode is, not just endless.
Either way, you say it's an "ungraceful" way to exit, but why? That's literally what the option is there for -- to end a run, anywhere you want, for any reason. Whether that's at the beginning of a stage, the middle of the stage, or at the end of a stage -- like you want.
I mean, I doubt it'd be too hard or take too much time -- but both time and resources are not infinite for just two developers; and there are so many things infinitely higher on the "to do" list to make a second exit because you're too stubborn (I'm not using that word as an insult) to use the first one for some reason; like fixing the game so it doesn't become unplayable like it did for you and your friend in the very first place.
On a slightly different topic, if you do find Endless mode to be too easy after a while, simply put more skulls on. Wrath (receive double damage) is a very good one to keep the difficulty curve in check alone for Endless mode, but you can add others if you'd like as well. Hopefully that will keep you satisfied and you may never need to exit or be bogged down due to a run's duration, as you'll probably be killed off. Feel free to add more like maybe Bankrupt to slow down character growth.
...I'm no loser. >.>
Any chance for a Save & Quit option for endless run like the standard modes have?
