No option to restart game from new?
My PC shut down unexpectedly while playing this game and it seem to have messed up my progression upon reloading the game.

I have access to level map selection along with artifacts I got but everything else seem to be lost such as bucket/repellant upgrades/alamanc info on fish and customers as well as bait being gone.

I would rather start again from scratch than to try navigate through what I'm missing and what's not in current game.

It'll take a bit of effort, but you can just wipe save data through steam if I remember correctly. Look around on Reddit for instructions or a Youtube tutorial if you prefer.
would be nice to have an option like this implemented in an upcoming patch
yea I even tried reinstalling the game.... I have the gog version and it asks if u want to also delete the save data but it doesn't delete it. I can't find the save folder anywhere. Its 2026 how hard is it to have a new game option.... How do u overlook something so basic

I agree, I want to start over and cannot.
If only technology were advanced enough to erase existing saved data so you could start a new file from the game without having to screw with game files. Sadly, this mythical "New Game" option has yet to be invented...
I figured out a way... It's kind of a pain in the butt but I got it to work.

To completely delete Steam Cloud saves, you have to overwrite them with a blank file, as Steam does not provide a simple "delete" button. Turn off cloud synchronization, delete your local files, and launch the game to create a new, empty save that will upload and overwrite the cloud data.

Step 1: Disable Cloud Synchronization
1. Open the Steam client.
2. In the top-left corner, click Steam and select Settings.
3. Go to the Cloud tab on the left sidebar and toggle off Enable Steam Cloud.
4. Go to your Library, right-click the specific game you want to reset, and select Properties.
5. Under the General tab, ensure the Steam Cloud toggle is also turned off.

Step 2: Delete Local Save Files
1. Right-click the game in your library, select Manage, and click Browse local files.
2. Look for folders named Save or Saved Games and delete them.
3. For games that save in your system folders (or if you can't find the Save folder), you may need to navigate to your Steam installation directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata.
4. Click the numbered folder (your unique Steam ID), then find the folder corresponding to the game's App ID and delete its contents.

Step 3: Overwrite the Cloud Saves
1. With cloud saves still disabled, launch the game and play for a minute or two until it generates a brand new, clean save file.
2. Exit the game completely.
3. Re-enable Steam Cloud in both the main Steam settings and the specific game's Properties menu.
4. Relaunch the game. Steam will detect a "Cloud Sync Conflict" because your local files don't match the old cloud files.
5. When the conflict window pops up, choose Upload to the Steam Cloud (or select local file). This will overwrite the old cloud data with your new, empty save
