From day one Witchfire has been designed as a single-player experience. Restructuring it into a co-op game at this stage would be an immense undertaking that simply wouldn’t make sense. Asking us to change course this late in development? Pointless.

If you want a co-op shooter, there’s already quite a few on the market, and more are coming! Meanwhile, as for Witchfire, let us make the best possible Single Player experience we can. It will be worth it, we hope.

We were open to the idea for a while, but ultimately - as the development progressed - decided against it.
the market is already bloated with co op games, don't ask these dev's to change what they are making.
No there's too many of its kind that are multiplayer, an actual single player extraction is a breath of fresh air.
There are already a fair number of co-op games on the market that have received rave reviews but have low online participation. It's better to focus on single-player content and not waste time on someone playing a co-op game for a few days and then forgetting about cooperative forever.
If you know a little from the development perspective, you either start with multiplayer in mind, or further down the line then implementing net code will literally double the workload and make the game a lot more complex on the back end in general. That's because you then need to synchronize players in the world, and the world itself with all the players. Some engines come with a lot of the groundwork done already, but suffice to say it's still going to be additional workload. Personally I enjoy the single player vision they have, yes multiplayer could be cool, but I'd rather them invest their resources and energy into implementing their original idea than to cut it down to fit multiplayer.

Mayhaps a sequel is due one day... :mhwhappy:
I've specifically wishlisted this game because it's 100% single player , and I don't even own the game yet, yet I've read all the FAQ's and replies. Co-op absolutely ruined the Painkiller in the sequel

Do people WITH the game just think the constant whinging knowing full well what the devs said will make the devs just say "yes, sir" and change their course with just 6 months left for the game release or something? Kindergarten level tantrum behavior and simply asinine
