Velmorne bugged?
Every time I spawn into Velmorne every enemy in the map just starts sprinting to my location none stop. To the point I had all 3 bosses stood outside the spawn gate and then endless waves of gravekeepers were throwing themselves at me one after another. Then I managed to kill all the bosses, for some reason seven crossbow guys spawned on me and just instantly killed me without warning at point blank. Am I doing something wrong here?

It's the Velmorne Welcome Party.

Good riddance TBH, but I admit it was a memorable rite of passage.

Even then, it wasn't what OP is describing.
The "welcome" was just having the guard midboss near the spawn with two big camps on top of it and the spewing traps to add some spice.
I personally never saw the three bosses rushing to the spawn point right from the start.

That said : Don't take it personally OP but we saw people describing stuff as being "endless" before.

Since that's something "happening each time", can you take a video ? There's tools integrated in steam for that. If it's true, it's a bug caused by something the devs can correct, but if it's just a lack of knowledge, a gameplay error or simply an exaggeration coming from panicked perception of the events - a normal reaction, people tend to stress quite a bit in this game - then it's on you.

The Watch Commander will seek you out once you start engaging with the first enemy camp. This happened to me last night, on stream, during my Penitent L1 gameplay. I had a medium camp with a Gravedigger, Crossbowmen, Mercenaries, Spinners and Attercops in the starting area. They have toned down the “Welcome” engagement though, as you said. I’ve never encountered all 3 elites together in Velmorne’s initial starting area as long as I have played. You would have to trigger each one to follow you. I’m curious if it’s a bug but also wondering if the Gravedigger was maybe confused for the Sepulcher? I could see triggering Watch Commander and High Executioner if you’re traveling towards the town area.
Maybe it is All Seeing Eye aggro-ing everyone and their grandmother on the map with it's AOE?

Does it *really* work like that ?
The watch commander sometimes gets aggro very early and far away, which has led to situations for me where I fought him, another Boss and sometimes the warden simultaneously. The other bosses also have chased me accross the map, but only after getting very near or engaging something near. Still not as extreme as describved here though.

Oh and about the welcome party: I have no clue about the past, I just started a short while ago with this update. But I had two camps on me right on spawn with the commander quickly joining on mutiple occasions, so I guess its still there in a way.

In the past, the Welcome Party immediately broke you out of your comfort zone. Instead of starting out in a safe area, you were thrown into chaos right from the start of entering the location along with the Watch Commander positioned much closer. In most cases, getting map rolls for multiple medium camps or mix of medium camps and a large camp. You had to manage the onslaught or try to escape it, to unlock the additional portals on the opposite end of the map.

I got the achievement for killing all 3 bosses of the map and I had not been able to move from the spawn point.

After trying again I found out my issue seems to have been using the all seeing eye, with the tier 2 upgrade? It seemed to aggro enemies not hit across the entire game map. Even bosses that spawned in the opposite spots of the map.

edit: It doesn't seem to happen every single time. Its a tough start sure but i've never had EVERY boss charge me at the spawn unless I was using the rifle that made critical hits explode AOE damage.

That said I still have no clue why 5-6 crossbowmen spawned around me at point blank and killed me later on but that just seemed like a spawn positioning bug.

Okay, so it does work that way then.

FYI, the all seeing eye zone effect is "a 2-dimensional disc that maintains a consistent size and orientation" according to the wiki, and this hitbox being able to aggro a whole map is something you can come across the forums.

Yeah I didn't think it was this because, the enemies were all turning up with 100% hp, because if it aggro'd everything on the map I presumed its because they had taken damage from it. Though bringing a different weapon I didn't have the issue.

I've noticed there's a visual cue before the 'in your face' spawn takes place, where sparks of witch fire appear around you. Still not sure what triggers it.

Also I can comfirm that the whole Velmore converged on me while using the ASE.
I don't know if what I experienced is the same thing exactly, but last night Velmorne was a psychopath. 4 times in a row when I would spawn in I would have, no joke, at least 40 spinners running to me and be on me in about 3 seconds. Then a bunch of mercenaries and the guard captain. I would end up tailoring my full build to living the first 30 seconds and drop all my spells, demonic ammo, and anything I could to live and not use all elixirs.

But today, it was completely normal both times I went there. I have no idea what changed, but I certainly am going to stay on my toes whenever I head there.

Did you take a level or a placebo pill ?
Both change the maps' defenses.

Yes, exactly!
There's something with that weapon on Velmorne, as I've noticed multiple times since it was my fav for quite some time.

The moment I quit using that rifle was the moment all bosses remained at their pre-defined positions.
It doesn't only affect the surroundings of the one targeted, but the decay also affects enemies underground. It could be that the spread underground is causing the Faithful ones to be triggered by it, rushing to the source all at once.
Btw, it's not the first time a skull position is nowhere to be seen at Velmorne, but the red dots are clearly on your map, right where you're at. They're all located underground.
Moving far away and returning after some time usually does the trick, as they suddenly appear all at ground level.
I even had it once during a Torment where half of the spawned section was underground.

Likewise, advancing underground could mean you fully prepared jump around a corner, only to be met with an empty room, as all the red dots on the mini-map are located at ground level, but still show up on your map.
Add to that Calamities starting when you're doing the Vault (was at the coloured Tree), without having even the possibility to end it since everything spawned at ground level.
Madness still lowered my health to 1.

Velmorne has some buggy stuff going on.
