FIX THESE MAPS...less smoke more clean graphics.Check out the maps in Destiny 2. I can see everything clearly at great distances...

Witchfire combat, weapon and item graphics are great...
The atmosphere is great...
And the map where there's no smoke is great...

FIX THESE MAPS...less smoke more clean graphics.
We live in a time of madness. Blur, fog, and smoke are everywhere. In movies and games. I canceled my Netflix subscription because their movies hurt my eyes. Their films are so tragic. In the last movie, the image, including the main character, was blurred for a few seconds. This is sick, this is such crap.

There are hundreds of pages about it on Reddit

This "smoke" is for performance reasons. Turn off bloom in gfx options, it makes the game much pleasant to look at.

I turned everything off. That helps, but there's still a lot of thick smoke coming from the ground. Sometimes on the map, where the smoke is, it gets really bright and you can't see anything. No enemies, no trees, nothing. Just a terribly bright light in the smoke area?

I return to base and it's okay for a while. When I move forward, I start to see smoke everywhere and suddenly it becomes light?

My lighting setting is 40, which helped a bit. The devs set it to 70.
At 100, where there's no smoke, the graphics are beautiful in the sun. But as soon as there's smoke, it glows terribly :(
This seems like a you problem my friend lol. There's nothing to fix as nothing is broken?, you on the other hand may need to see a doctor.

Laughter. Health advice from the UK. Oh my god... really. Laughter.

I 100% agree :)

and will add: I Love the smoke but If you don't like it can be fixed in the game settings.

This can't be fixed in the settings. Smoke and fog are persistent in many places. You can't change the smoke density on the map. Only the developers can fix this. I don't like smoke. I enjoy looking at the map. Destiny 2 has beautifully clean maps. On the swampy maps, everything is visible from afar. You can see who's attacking you and where the shots are coming from. Witchfire maps are very dense and have a large number of elements, where everything is often obscured by smoke. The blur and smoke are a disaster for map clarity.
Either this is bait or yes you need to see a doctor about your eyes lol. Or maybe your PC is screwed? Like:

"I return to base and it's okay for a while. When I move forward, I start to see smoke everywhere and suddenly it becomes light?"

What are you even talking about here?
It's a sunny day. You emerge from the garden and see the entire path to the mirror is obscured by fog. Smoke on the stairs leading to the mirror obscures the entrance. The graphics change to a brighter color as you enter the smoke. Delete the smoke, and you'll have a sharp image . From a distance, the light makes the smoke VISIBLE, but nothing around it. The image is MILKY.
The OP is right, they did something blurry to the graphics since the early Epic days. Some kind of fog and hazy greyish crap floating in the air. I bet this is how they "fixed" the performance issues. Or could be some artistic thing. But on maps with lots of fires, sand and dust that kinda makes sense.

There is nothing to fix, it is not a problem it is as intended to set the mood 8)
That fog and smoke do really obscure stuff - I guess thats both stylistic and performance work-around (dont need to render far objects as good if you cant see it).
I personally love it. I love fog in real life. There's a certain aura and atmosphere to it. It's bleak. It's quiet. It's calm. The air feels thick; yet crisp and refreshing as it could ever be. It's energizing at the same time. There's a chill in the air that gives you goosebumps. Your breath is short, nose almost running. You can hear every single noise that surrounds you. Leaves rustling, crows cawing, ambience from the living environment. It's eerie and it's incredible. There's nothing else like it. It adds a ton of immersion for me. I could walk around these maps endlessly.
