Yellow paint ? Really ?
After Hermitorium's opening : big yellow footsteps shows you the way to the portal or the ouskirts for next missions.
I'm fed up with this patronizing s**t. It was fine before the 0.9 update, what's going on ?

Yep. it's terrible. They have choosen the worst school of quest design. The worst are Preyers quests - not only their masks are now visable on the map, every one of those quest is identical to each other - just go where the quest marker is, talk, repeat. Absolutely horrible - so ininspired, linear and lazy. There is no need of exploration or any player agenda.

Btw there are steps also in Wailing Tower quest. It makes absolutely no sense and kills the fun of exploration. What a stupid decision. The Astronauts decided to follow the worst trends.

You find a note on the Scarlet Coast that is actually smart. It tells a girl to escape and not to be afraid of jumping from the cliff by the windmill. The description alone makes the place incredibly easy to find. But of course, they had to ruin the immersion by adding those damn glowing footsteps.
Agreed, I'd like the option to toggle it.

So no more exploration even for mask's fragments ? So we only have surprise rosary beeds to find by ourselves I think.

Yes, I saw for the Wailing tower quest. Gnosis IV to activate de puzzle behind the doors... Crazy.
Agreed as well. The game should maintain its mysteries and reward for exploring. It felt more engaging looking for the game’s secrets. I was shocked to see the mask shards appearing on the map in the new update. It sucks to see it turn into a fetch quest.
Remember when a Morrowind NPC would give you a vague set of directions and you'd just have to find the location by looking at the landscape instead of your map?

"The cave is past the great lava ravines west of Sadrith Mora, if you can see spires of Ghostgate you've gone too far".

I miss that.

There is still time for them to fix it, palyers just need to be vocal about it.
Agreed, dumbing down full steam. Worse than the GPS radar map. I was shocked at the footsteps leading to the shards. And the map lying right there at the portal on the beach. I was expecting maybe some vague notes found that would hint at where to find them or something like that

Hope it's worthwhile for them money wise and they sell 10 trillion copies to the mass market wankers with 2 brain cells and attention span of a gnat, but I doubt it. I was fine with just faint audio cues, but now everything is "quality of life" for the Modern Audiences and shoved in your face. Half of fun was figuring things on your own, like what herbs and trinkets do, and where to go.
Yeah when I saw it the first time, I sighed and ignored it.

This is what I keep saying: the earlier builds were so much more fun.

I genuinely don't understand anymore. The developer knows what kind of game they want to make, I've seen that game, I've read about it in earlier blogs, I've *played* that game; however, they keep changing it, and it sucks.

I want *that* Witchfire that developers weren't afraid to create; a hardcore minimalist first person shooter. I feel like when 1.0 releases I'm just going to get a watered down game that is completely divorced from what it was originally meant to be.

Ah well.
The Astronauts always say they got their feedback from Discord, Reddit and Steam. You want to tell me there is someone there who said it's a good idea to make it in such crude way? And you listened?
I made a topic in "Suggestions & Feedback", not sure if they monitor the "General" discussions.

They do monitor the general discussions.
I was shocked when my map had markers for many of the collectibles when playing recently on a fresh save. Is that normal or did I do something to enable them? I thought I would have to scour the map for things like the mask pieces.

Oh I'm sure you were shocked.

Makes sense for mask pieces to be marked anyway, the fallen preyers are linked to your soul.

Also I don't see people praising the Koschei search part of the game. It's universally recognized as a chore, so why are you all acting like guidance for collectibles is a bad thing ?

Just ask for an option to toggle it off.
I'm sure most of you will use the markers anyway.

What a stupid thing to say. Now fallen prayers are linked to your map, not your soul.

Search for Koschei parts was tiresome, there is nothing to prise in searching for 30 parts of mediacore weapon. But no one criticized it, because it required some player input.

This is not guidance, the map tells you exactly where it is, I hope you're just pretending. Guidance was sound cue, do you get the difference?

There is no sense in "toggle off" if Astronauts are designing all of quests this way, by just marking your objective on map. To make a good quest without map markers you need to give player a guidance - be it enviromental storytelling or description.I can't believe you don't understand such basics.

I don't like how inconsequential astronauts have become. It was supposed to be an extraction and exploration game. You were supposed to search for equipment and extract with it. That's why you didn't know where the boxes were, if you wanted to know, you needed to buy coordinates. Now, almost everything is marked on your map, you get equipment even if you die, and the only thing you lose is witchfire and gold. Wtf is this?

Koschei quest is one of my favorites when it was first introduced to the game. I'm a patient gamer. I search every corner and angle as part of my experience. Rushing through a game is anti-climactic. I welcome all of the mysteries and secrets rather than being spoon-fed.
