v1.0 work in progress (beta).
As I have started to work on a the new v1.0 content, I open a new thread to show you the progress. As usual I'll try to update builds very often, on the beta branch.
To play the beta, select it in the "beta" tab of the steam properties of the game

v1.0 Roadmap, updated on 2018/03/24 :

1. Hazardous events... done
2. "Sky World" game mode... done
3. "Under the Sea" game mode... done
4. "Defense" game mode... work in progress
5. Adding more edition tools...
6. Debugging and minor improvements...

*** First progress report ***

So for this first one, you can try the new Hazardous Environment, with 3 events for now. It works for solo and multiplayer games - although in multi the sync is not perfect, especially for meteors.
It displays a warning message 30s before the event start, and during the event. Later I'll improve the mechanism so it doesn't happen at night (but for night events).

Please tell me what do you think of it! Personnaly I think this is really what was missing in the game. It's not very verious, a bit broken... but adds great fun, with massive destructions, and some real use of the environment simulation

I'll most probably post those builds into the default branch -but with the hazardous environment option hidden. This way I'll get more error feedbacks before the release

v1.0 (Build 641) - Beta branch
- Hazardous environment - Heat Wave : no rain, fast evaporation, some plants spontaneously burn
- Hazardous environment - Rain Flood : massive rain flood
- Hazardous environment - Meteor Shower : meteor falling from the sky and destroying everything... have fun!
- Better fire management

Had a very quick go on this just now. I think your meteor shower went m.i.a though.


The warning and duration messages work fine, just no meteors. Got rain though haha. I was playing on easy mode, just in case difficulty settings have a bearing on random event intensity.

oh, you didn't get any meteor ? It takes about 20s after the start of the event for them to start hitting the ground. After the event you should have seen a lot of destroyed places, with a bit of lava

Fixed - sorry it didn't work in solo, I had broken it when doing the multi sync
It's fixed now - it was a shame as it's definitely the best event ^^

I have a problem with the meteor shower, it happened on day 2 and created basalt all along the surface and it's impossible to mine.

oh .... that's a problem. I guess I don't really have a choice, I'll remove the lava creation monday - but keeping the fire ignition on nearby vegetation. So... enjoy the true hardcore meteor shower this week-end :-)

Yep, meteors do work now. In other news, arrrrrrgghhhh!! (I took a direct hit from one of them).

The days where you could coast by with a base built of wood are gone now. o_O


As for the lava creation, it's not too bad. I went for a wander afterwards and typicaly found small pockets like this one across the map. These you can work around fine though I feel.

Yup, that seems to be doing what it's meant to.

@TwitchYoyomajiin: did you get several Flood ? I think that when there will be many more events, the water will have more time to get out as there will be Flood less often. Also, if you get a Heat Wave, water will evaporate very quickly.
I might do a "cheated random" generator to force it to get various events, not the same too often... but in the same time it's quite fun ^^

Here are two 2 events, and a command that you will probably find very useful, to manually trigger an event (even in normal non-hazardous-environment games). Enjoy the destruction of your worlds! :-)

v1.0 (Build 640) - Beta branch

- Hazardous environment - Volcano eruption
- Hazardous environment - Earthquake: increases all structures' weight
- Add a command to launch an event: /event heatWave, /event rainFlood, etc (switch with Tab)
- Meteor shower: reduce lava quantity (so less basalt created)
- Replace F2 by I as default inventory command (F2 is still the 2nd shortcut, but it's I that is displayed in the UI)
- Dweller lord now immune to lava & fire (to survive the volcano events)

A little update. I'll probably push this verstion to the default branch, but with the Hazardous Environment option being deactivated

One point that might interest some of you : all those events are defined in lua, in a environments.lua file. It cannot me properly modded for now, contrary to the params files, but you should still be able to modify the values in the steaming assets files, if you wish to experiment / crash the game ^^

- Hazardous environment - Restless Night : more monsters (occurs only at night)
- Hazardous environment - Quiet Night : no monsters (occurs only at night)
- Hazardous environment - Planetary Alignment : a very rare stars alignments lowers the gravity (jump higher, buildings stronger)
- Autobuilders emit a bit of light, much easier to find when lost.
- Earthquake event : smooth the beginning & ending

8 more events and then I start the new game modes :-)
