Unclearable xeno base?
hi - i just found a base on Jarilo that appears to be unclearable

i assume they are procedurally generated and so this base only exists for me

but is there a console command to find the seed so maybe you can investigate?

i figured something had bugged out somewhere since there were some of those red blast shields floating in the air, like they were meant to be on a platform on the upper level - and also some specimen tubes the same way - i can post some pics if it will help

but i realized there was something very wrong when there were no more doors to open and i had not yet found the loot room :-(

so i guess something got misaligned when it generated and some stuff is maybe overlapping, and there is likely some wall covering one or more doors? (EDIT: thinking about it and looking at the pics, looks like maybe that the doors got shifted up through the roof, or sideways, to somewhere unreachable if they are part of the same "layer" as the barriers and tubes that got shifted)

the scope tells me there are still 10 xenos left in there - plus the treasure - lost story - un progressable progression :-(

anyway - i have made a save - so please do let me know if there is anything i can do to help you debug this kind of thing

and now i shall go and see if there is a no clipping command for the console - and hope i don't find myself repeatedly falling into the void :-)

and i shall let you know if i find what got overlapped (i am hoping it is that simple and i can clip through to the rest of the base - if there is even that command lol)

also - if i have simply missed some puzzle element then apologies for the erroneous bug report

thanks :-)

EDIT:
can't find a clipping command in GameplayMain - i suspect i may be out of options for this base - any help or advice appreciated (some way to delete walls?) - plus anything i can do to help with debugging (if it's a bug and not just me being dumb - but definitely no more doors, and i can't find any other entrances to the base - is one of those big square bunkers)

EDIT2: i have added some screenshots:

EDIT3:
am having another playthrough in the same world - not sure if Jarilo will have had its bases generated at game start or when it was discovered - so going to try and clear the whole planet (starting with these bases now that i recognise their symbol) and see if this one is still there

also - i have found some more bases with stuff slightly misaligned - e.g. a box halfway through a wall, or a shield generator overhanging a ledge - but nothing else floating or stuff so misaligned that the base is unclearable - am figuring i have encountered some of the extreme edges of the procedural generation algorithm - so hopefully these may be of help in tweaking them in the future :-)

EDIT4:
little extra note - really do love the algorithm though - just cleared a massive base where everything fit together really nicely - wouldn't want you to think i was only noticing the bugs :-)

also just got to one of the early encrypted messages that always gets me feeling a little bit emotional every time - really great writing :-)

EDIT5:
so i did some experimenting and testing - and so of course now i know that the bases get generated when the celestial body is first visited - and also that even if a base is unclearable, any important loot will be available at the next one

of course i am very glad that i don't have to worry about not being able to progress if a base generates inaccessible rooms - and if anything the fact that this is the case is simply an additional thing to be impressed with, whether it was intended or simply a useful byproduct of other decisions

obviously if and when individual bases become more uniquely significant with mission content and/or the possibility of needing a particular base to have a particular room accessible so that something can be activated that might affect another base, or have something specific collected etc, even with all of those objects and relationships being procedurally generated - then at that point i imagine the algorithm will get the tweaking to try and prevent inaccessible areas

anyway - i'm glad i found the issue and found it to be negligible - and i am excited to see all of the awesome things that the future holds for this awesome game :-)

EDIT6:
one last note just to confirm that i'm an idiot and thought that the Editor wasn't working for the xeno bases (coz i thought i might be able to use that to get to the blocked off areas)

it didn't seem to be working since when i entered the command the UI appeared, but there was no map - and so i figured it would only work for the player's ship

of course i was being an idiot and didn't register that the console was still active and so the game wasn't actually running yet - and if i has simply exited the console at that point the map would have loaded

so yeah - my bad

and so, to conclude:
- it's not a big deal
- it won't hold up progress through the plot
- asteroids and planets can be rerolled if a save is made before they are visited
- it's likely fixable using the editor anyway

and i shall now shut up about this topic :-)

as ever - love the game :-)

UPDATE:
not actually fixable using the Editor - throws errors when trying to save - but still not a big deal - since it's not necessary to be able to access each base to progress in the game
