The same situation!!!
It is necessary to install the package from the desktop, I do not know why, but stupid microsoft developers need to know why it works that way.
1. calcel all temp files // search - %TEMP% - cancel all
2. perform clean boot // https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135 - restart
3. install vc_redist.x64 (my is 64 bit) // https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145
4. restart without clean boot! // microsoft link above explains it
maybe someone needs this info. Bye!
Works for me! I love you so much!
Thank you! This helped solve the problem so I was able to run Civilization VI. Hopefully other users having problems with Windows 7 and Civilization VI will see this post.
Although I did have one more problem on my laptop and this helped resolve that:

Had to change the temp folder to install the 2015 c++ Hope it helps!
Thanks man, that fixed with temp log worked for me!
VIVA CIV 6
Can somebody explain me how to do the part 1 in a more understandable way?
I *think* the person is saying to clean the temp folders (I don't search for temp files and not in Windows at the time to try searching for them) but there's two main ones:
C:/Users/*your user dir*/AppData/Local/Temp (hidden)
C:/Windows/Temp
Right clicking on the drive and using Windows system cleaning on it might also do so, but I've always done so manually by going to the folders above.
For the most part it should be of no problem to select all and delete everything possible in the temp folders - but YMMV, you could have something of value depending on how you use Windows (with the way I use it, I just select all and delete from time-to-time.)
I really don't think it will make a difference whether you do it or not, but depending on how much stuff is in there, you might be able to reclaim a nice amount of space.
