how long is the day/night cycle?

I swear I am done with games where you have to rush all day and then in like 8 minutes sunset and then sit around for a long time doing very little.

Can you at least sleep or wait skyrim style past nights?


how long are days? how long are nights? is there any seasonality that changes the times?

In real life days and nights are equally long around equator, 12 hours each and so they are in this game, you can however sleep for roughly 8-9 hours, but why sleep every day, there's so much you can do at night...

• Watch the moonlight while eating/drinking coconuts and suddenly feel an urge to crap yourself
  
• Moonlight diving around shipwrecks with a flashlight and suddenly see a tiger shark in front of you(see last sentence of point 1)
  
• The excitement of trying to find out where that hissing sound came from and the need to quickly find a weapon in the dark

So you see there are tons of fun things to do at night :)
Btw I think 24 hour ingame last roughly 35-40 mins in realtime.

You can sleep - you have to craft a shelter or sleeping bag. Shelter = lashings, four palm fronds, and three or four sticks.
