You need a sfx mod... Beefy VAPOSM 2
Here is the link to a an updated version of the VAPOSM mod, which was converted and uploaded by fireship4. These sounds have more "oomph" to them, and VAPOSM in general is an amazing mod that will greatly improve your experience with the game.

Installation is easy, but check out the included readme if you have any questions.

It's great, but, the maxim needs more beef =)

Congratulations on the release. Just a note, the mod was originally made by Vyllis, as thebaymonster said it was simply converted by me for use in Mius Front.

It's not the ''oomph'' that the sounds of this game needed. But more hi-res sound and reverb depending on terrain configuration.

No need to add bass if the sounds peek and distortion.

I agree. I didn't mean to imply bass. I added no bass, instead actually added slight reverb and some compression. I did not want to overdo the reverb, as the engine has no way of altering the sounds depending on terrain, aside from what I believe is a distance modifier, which lowers the volume as distance from camera is increased.

Thanks a lot for this, from the video it really sounds good, and I will try it in-game once I get some time.

By the way, a small tip; You only need to release the one packed .gt3ext file built by the mod tools (which is actually a zip file), if you want to make the download smaller.

However I think most of us appreciate that you also release the source .wav files so everyone is free to mix and match the sounds we prefer :)

Thanks. Yeah, I didn't think to remove the wav files. Which is funny, because I have an absolute crap connection where every mb counts. I really believe if we can get the sound down, and then nightpostman's skins (and maybe fix a few tank pathing issues and add multiplayer), this game will be near perfect.

Ever thought of porting this to GTOS?

Well, VAPOSM by Vyllis was originally a mod for GTOS, you can get it here:

I think the latest version is 1.5 and it works fine, I was really happy with it when I played a lot of GTOS.

I have used the 1.5 version for GTOS before, but I found that a lot of sounds were still rather lacking, even with the mod. However this new version is quite a lot better imo.

I like this personally way more than small arms plus, by the way.
Such negativity, youre fun at parties, i guess.

I don't go to parties, just to shower people online with my negative waves.

I like Small Arms Plus' artillery sounds a lot. Plus the guns may not sound realistic but they pack a punch.
There's still no mod that fixes the mortar round's generic movie whistling.

I honestly don't understand why smallarmsplus is the only half decent soundpack in which the guns don't sound like BB-guns. I mean go to youtube and type 'Dunkirk prologue' that scene has DELICIOUS gunsounds. Why is it so hard?
