Controller bug
I'm using a wired Xbox controller that works on multiple other games, but it immediately tries to push left at all times. It's impossible to do anything but go left (the opposite direction/flow of the game). In settings, it's impossible to solve this by moving to keyboard and mouse, as all of the settings are on the right side, thus rendering the entire game unplayable no matter what I do. Is this a glitch? Uninstalling the game I assume will solve the problem to move to mouse and keyboard, but I'd rather use a controller.

That is a strange one!

Clicking the mouse in the menu even when you have previously selected a controller option will switch to mouse mode. Then the mouse can be used to navigate to the options menu and select keyboard input instead, or perhaps try the other controller types?

Another thing might be to test or calibrate your controller input: https://www.howtogeek.com/241421/how-to-calibrate-your-gaming-controller-in-windows-10/

hope it helps!

I am having the exact same issue! I selected Xbox controller at the start and now left input is on at all times. I can't get mouse to show up on main menu screen. I cannot navigate to options. This happens no matter if the controller is plugged in or not. Or if it's X360 or dualshock connected to PC. How can I erase the settings and get the controls prompt again?

EDIT: I verified that the issue was caused by installed drivers for a rather exotic 6-axis mouse. After uninstalling them the game works as intended. I don't blame the dev, it sure is a weird edge-case.

Having a similar problem. Using a DS4, up and down are mapped to left and right on the dpad while left and right are mapped to up and down on the right stick.
When using it as an xbox controller, down on the dpad just switches between the first two main menu options. Can't get to the options menu and mouse won't work.

That is exactly the behaviour I was getting. Are you sure you don't have some strange input devices installed? Joystick emulators especially?

I got this problem when I nudged my rudder pedals while using a DS4.

Rain World immediately started using the pedals as its preferred input but interpreted that input as a constant left on the D-Pad.

I have the pedals, a flightstick and throttle all plugged in, and can solve the problem by de-activating them through their config software or disabling them in device manager.

Still, if Rain World were more intelligent about its device ID's this might not be necessary, just something to look at for a future patch if possible.

Not that I'm aware of. Finally got my controller working by emulating it as a 360 controller through inputmapper instead of Steam's built-in thing.

Same issue, using a xbox one elite controller. Problem persists even after recalibration
Have same issue. Recalibration don't help.

Dunno if this is the issue, but worth a try:

If any of you guys have controller support enabled in Big Picture mode, make sure to disable it as it can usually conflict with games that have native support for your given controller.

I had some issues with my DS4 as well in Rain World (with one button doing multiple things like whenever I wanted to jump I'd also throw) until I disabled controller support in BPM.
Achelon, thanks!

I registered my controller in BigPicture mode and enabled it. After launching the game in BigPictire mode bug dissapeared!!!

I uninstalled the game entirely and reinstalled it... Never gave me the option to move to mouse like it did when I first installed.

Tried the big pisture mode idea. Still nothing.

This computer is recently wiped entirely, so the only controller that's been plugged in is the PowerA Star Wars Xbox One Controller.

I'm at a loss on how to solve it and can't play the game.
Are you sure you enabled it and registered in BigPicture mode for your account right? Also you have to launch the game from BigPicture mode - usual steam library launch won't fix it.

Btw i tried to play with keyboard, game is much better with controller.

Funny part? I have never used Big Picture ever before. I literally booted into it for the first time 15 minutes ago to try that idea. Didn't help anyway.

Having the same issue, using an Oculus VR controller. If anybody finds a fix that at least usually works, let us know

Thanks all! We're looking into a more robust controller-detect feature for a future patch, but this is all extremely helpful!
