Operation: Black Mesa

Operation: Black Mesa

What really happened?
So far I have seen quite a lot of varying accusations put up against Evil Good Guy/Brandon Smith, these range from being bad to borderline illegal.

Supposedly the evidence of what happened was in an internal .PDF file which was leaked seemingly on Reddit or the Discord server. The only proper link to it I've seen so far was on the Half-Life Reddit, said post just leads to a dead link now.

(Link to said Reddit post) https://www.reddit.com/r/HalfLife/comments/1ei57ls/tripmine_studios_seems_to_be_imploding_right_now/?sort=new&rdt=47747

I already have seen some poor taste statements made by Evil Good Guy but both are from years ago, and might not accurately reflect his current opinions. Either way it still doesn't compare to the other REALLY bad accusations.

and for the record I've seen the discord announcement and it really doesn't provide any actual proper information on the matter.

So if anyone can properly elaborate on what was in the document, or get the Reddit OP to post an actual working link, it would be greatly appreciated.

Also I'll add that I've been a long term supporter and fan of Operation Black Mesa/Guard Duty, I love the project, and just want to know what on earth is happening

Looks like someone divulged honest personal opinion on social media, that triggered some little tyrants, or trolled some 'liberals'.

Just your standard SJW thought policing for personal opinions allegedly stated on a personal profile on a social media outlet, though I have seen no evidence of such posts ever having appeared, or existing in the first place, so it could be a bunch of hearsay about nothing, and the usual suspects trying to get their pound of flesh over imagined slights.

I don't understand what his out of work comments have anything to do with the devs firing him. If companies need to police everyone's free time of their bad habits, then more than half of the people in the world will get fired.

Next thing you know someone getting fired for not flushing the toilet and people go on a meltdown saying they don't wanna buy from a company with a staff that doesn't flush because "he's evil".

There's a PDF available in this reddit comment, the original file seems to have been removed: https://www.reddit.com/r/HalfLife/comments/1f6ilfa/so_is_anyone_excited_what_do_we_know_so_far/ll0h446/

It's very self-explanatory.

Not about "SJW" or about having a "different opinion", or not flushing the toilet paper the right way. One of the lead devs seems to be a hateful, ignorant, vle person with no respect for other human beings, and no separation between his (semi) professional work and personal business. There's a difference between saying "I don't like them gays" and advocating for mass murder. And some of the team (and Gamers from the Steam forums) are completely okay with that because they're also hateful mouth breathers.

Not going to support such a development team, which is a shame because I was interested in this mod for years. At least the Black Mesa Blue Shift mod looks like it will be finished soon.

Just read the PDF, looks based to me. Imagine a company controlling your own social media accounts and trying to control your opinions and views. One of their rules was "no swearing" for fu󠀡󠀡cks sake, Tripmine studios are a bunch of children and should focus on making a good game.

Respect is earned, not automatically given. The "evidence" given is nothing but a typical HR meeting with those deeming his opinions as incorrect and thus cancelled.

Yeah if one of their lead devs focused on making the game instead of being a ♥♥♥♥, maybe it would be out already.

It isn't about opinions being incorrect, it's about respecting others, which Brandon doesn't seem capable of. If he said he doesn't like chicken fried rice and there was drama because of that, then that would be silly. But calling for beheadings and sniping of people coming across a border is not a difference of opinion, it's being deplorable.

Whether there should be drama raised because of that is a personal choice, such as it was for those devs who at first wanted to solve this diplomatically and privately. When it was clear it wasn't an option, they left the team so that they aren't associated with someone like Brandon. They've done nothing wrong and they've earned my respect for sticking to their (non-"based") values.

Then you too are a weak man that cannot handle mean words on the internet. Brandon was not a physical threat but I'm glad his work is being put to better use than in a joke of a modding team because he is clearly good at his work.

Keep using ya buzzwords, you wouldn't survive five minutes in a cod lobby. Turn the computer off once in a while.

'It isn't about opinions being incorrect, it's about respecting others' - That's exactly right, and everyone has a right to voice an opinion without a bunch of virtue signalers forming a mob, and acting like self appointed hitlers. Be an adult about the situation, what could someone actually say to hurt your fefes so bad? You live in a system of self governance under rule of law, people have a right to be idiots within the confines of those laws, are you going to curl up in a ball and cry, or be normal and go on about your own personal business?

The self-righteous always enjoy a good "Spanish Inquisition." Remember, they're destroying careers and forcing people into submission through fear because they're the good guys.
Just stop posting things as your rl self online.
People play witch hunt like its some calling in life.

They gain nothing from real people. Everyone has individual rights and anyone worth associating with understand that. I mean who would even work for an employer that would allow a bunch of emotionally broken fascists to gang up on you?

who cares about what this guy said, they need to finish the damn game, i been waiting for this game for longer than 10 years.
Maybe they should stop jerking around, firing people over politics, and get the game finished already or at least publish a demo. Black Mesa ended up being finished earlier than Operation Black Mesa, and that game started development later than Black Mesa if I'm not mistaken.
