Devs, why have you messed Spellforce timeline so hard in SF3???
1. In prologue we get the name of DUKE Vastel and his wife who died from Red Fever in the year 3800 (of something, what this date based on?). On Iskander Wilds map the names of late Vastel is different, and DUKE changed to COUNT

2. Years. It is stated that Hall of Justice in Greykeep was built in 6542 year. And Undergast tells that Creator Guild was founded in the year 231. What are these numbers? On what they are based? Just random?.. According to the lore in previous SF games and in trilogy of novels Hyborean Empire was founded about 1000 years before SF1, and Nortander was founded about 200 years before SF3. Do we have a massive lore retcon or just a mistake from scenario writers side?

3. The main source of the Eo timeline are lore materials published in the Spellforce novel trilogy and wiki http://de.spellforce.wikia.com/wiki/Zeitrechnung. In the chapter 3 of the 1st novel, "Windflusterer" the following dates are stated:

45000 BC - first dragons seen on Godland
40000 BC - first humans appeared
1050 BC - dwarves meet humans
990 BC - Hyborean Empire formed with Divine Emperor at its head
800 BC - First War between nations of Eo
770 BC - Hyborean Empire is divided, and Nortander, Highmark and New Empire are founded. Elves are settled in Finon Mir
625 BC - Creation of the Fial Darg
600 BC - War of Six Nations and emprisonment of Fial Darg, founding of Lar and Gruk
500 BC - foundation of the Circle

So, War of Six Nations ended just 80 years before the events of SF3. But in the game is is stated that it ended 800 years before SF3, and it completely breaks an existing lore. Iron Falcon's High Keeper tells that Fial Darg - an ancient evil and was sealed centuries before.

In the oasis dragonhunters tell that Hyberian Empire existed 800 years ago. Therefore, in SF3 "lore" war of six nations took place while empire was still around! Again, it conflicts with the lore, 'cos it was founded about 500 years before SF3 and existed just about 200 years, and was divided about 250 years before SF3.

If is is a retcon, this is bad - it will break a story of SF2 also, where is stated that Malakay was born more than 900 years before Convocation, at the dawn of Hyborean Empire, and War of Six Nations must take place much later than that date.

Is it possible to get a devs comment on these issues? The whole Spellforce timeline is completely messed up in SF3, and if the series continue, the situation may turn to the worse(.

Don't expect them to respond to this in person. People will call them out on it (over and over again and not in a good way). So I guess the'll try to change (do hope so) for the next (possible) content and fix it on their end.

Also this could be a long shot, while the years are different, it could be that the differences lie within the 'calender' system they use. I has more or fewer days/months etc. than another calender, hence differences.
They should have problably checked on it beforehand though.

I'm looking forward to the developers answer.
Honestly, it's alright with me; the quality of the story and exposition told trumps the lore quite a lot: having a great time. I might even like Spellforce 3 more than Spellforce 1 at this rate: just needs some more polish.

that's what I thought too... Maybe the calendar works in a very different way on Eo. Although, it still makes very little sense

the timeline's all about fluff, but then again , the consistency of fluff is important for immersion and it can be mildly bothering for some

another one is Old Halaayash. The prologue mission says that it is located in 'far south of Eo' (probably somewhere in Xu), while the main campaign establishes it to be in Nortander, close to Leafshade

Hope they somehow fix this too.

As for the main timeline. yeah - they have expanded it and it is understandible on some level, because Hyborean empire has to be considered something ancient and mythical, and having disintegrate mere 200 years before the game would make it less so
