[COMMUNITY] How To Use The Suggestion Box - *READ BEFORE POSTING*
So it's no surprise you guys are full of great ideas for the future of DiRT Rally.

After talking with a lot of you in the general chat area we've come up with the following idea which we hope will work better and be much easier for us all to use (both you guys and us in the studio).

My worry is (like others in the GD forum) that we could potentially miss out on a great idea that ends up getting buried in the noise of general chat.

So we're going to go with a simple, pitch an idea and people vote by adding a +1

Simply follow these steps to have your idea considered
  1. Come up with an idea or an improvement
  2. Create a new post in the Suggestion box section of the forums here
  3. Mark your post title with one of the following tags

[CAR & TRACKS] - This should speak for itself

[GAME MODE] - Come up with a game mode, a new one or maybe the return of an old fav like cat and mouse even Gymkhana!

[FEATURE] - e.g. Mod Support, Twitch TV Streaming integration, Rally School

[IMPROVEMENT] - e.g Add helicopters, more options in the menu, animals/ people running out on stage

[COMMUNITY] - e.g. Blog posts, things you'd like to see done on the Steam Forums, Facebook, Twitter etc

  4. Write a clear and descriptive title
  5. Write down your idea, the more detail you can give the better. Tell us what you want and how you want it to work.
  6. Click Post Discussion

That's it, if you like an idea that somebody else has posted simply add a +1 to the thread. If you don't agree that's fine, we're just asking that you don't post. We'll be keeping an eye on all the ideas that land in this section of the forum but paying close attention to those which float to the top and get a lot of attention.

Hope that makes sense, if not feel free to ask any questions below and we'll refine the process a little over the next few days.

Now get posting!

So a plus one shows support for the idea ok, but if you cannot put a -1 if you dislike the idea, how do you know that if 100 people like the idea that in fact 1000 dislike it? Or are you analyisng the information in a different way to this?

Yes but it is possible that ( numbers for demonstration only ) a suggestion that attracts 100 likes but 80 dislikes would be put forwaqrd for consideration over a suggestion that get 80 likes but no dislikes. It maybe that they want to avoid discussion, justification arguments at this stage.

I agree with you on the numbers but I don't understand why they would want to avoid disscussions(other than the shear volume) because discussions are how ideas evolve and even reveal new ideas.
They could select the "popular" items and throw them open for discussion at a later point so this smaller list could be refined and discussed by all. But I still think the option to allow just -1 would be better way to short list.

Sorry I edited my post you missed: Better sooner than later? If they get the ideas too late its too late.

edited too

Another reason why they might not want -1 as well, is because each comment pushes the thread back to the top, this way if you don't get many +1 your suggestion naturally gets pushed back, so in that way its better to just have +1 and no -1.

I am sure that once few ideas get high enough votes they will just open it to general discussion, but for now this is an efficient way to sort through the mess that is the general chat.

@Lantea Yep see that too.

[CAR & TRACKS]

I would like to see the japanese areas again. Mainly for the variety of tracks, but also because they where some of the less common tracks in the Dirt Series.

Because it never goes like that. Someone says something; someone else says it's stupid; someone else starts talking about some other game; then someone else starts talking about the Super Bowl.

Are you new?
