When I play, power seems very strong especially if you play aggressively and approach and play the net with charged shots, as well as it boosting your serve to epic proportions, your regular hits, AND your skill shots. The tutorial states that tech boosts your serve, and maybe it does a little, but power is way more effective. Return aces along the alley are common and regular (non-skilled) serves timed for the red zone, with good placement, can also get aces fairly regularly with a high power stat. Beyond that, if you stack power AND place quick shots correctly the AI can pretty much never get to them. That was just too cheesy for me so I went with the spammy power shots to stun-lock the opponents and score points that way instead. =)
That said, I don't think power needs a nerf, but I do think the other stats need some love, and some characters need their passive abilities tweaked, particular Bridget and Kate, but probably Daisy too.
To begin, I do think the speed stat needs an additional effect of some sort; I'd rather put points into tech to get better hits/placement/reach than put points into pure running speed. I won't even use Daisy because she has too much base speed and not enough other stats, lol. I find 35 points of speed enough for almost all situations against the AI opponents if you don't put yourself in bad positions. The speed stat would be more valuable if it provided bonuses to some other stuff (the suggestion of charge speed isn't bad but not sure if that'd be good enough TBH). Regardless, with the current state of the game, Daisy has too much of the stat that I find the least valuable, so she goes unused. I will add, that if the AI actually played the net, speed would inherently become more valuable as a stat because you'd have less time to react and position yourself for the shot they return. Perhaps tuning the AI to sometimes play the net *and* linking shot charging to the speed stat would be enough?
Going high in tech can be fun with Claire but it seems you have to really nerf your power stat to go deep into tech and stack trick shots to score most of your points. Fun nonetheless, especially charged trick serves where you blow their clothes off and their just like "huh?" Completely different style of play since that is going to benefit from playing defensively until you can charge your trick shots, so I must say that I do like the variety available for when I get tired of using Rachel to stomp on all the other poor girls.
For sure the trick shots cost a whole lot more tension but they also cause an auto-miss with a good tech stat, so they would be super lame if they were too spammable. At least with the tension-lite power shots you have a decent chance of getting out of the stun in time unless you get caught out in a bad position or your opponent returns your shot with a very fast shot and you can't break free in time to swing etc. Trick shots annoy me more than anything else - whiffing the ball when I'm perfectly in position and everything - so I end up putting trick counter on every character, lol.
Speaking of counters, it feels like power counter does little to nothing and I'm not sure if it's a bug or not. I can put it on a character with 65+ power and still get stunned by the AI pretty easily so...yeah I dunno?
Bridget needs an entirely new passive ability, because +75% exp does nothing at max level and makes any other girl a better choice. Otherwise she'd make a good all-rounder, but as of right now she goes unused on my roster as well. Kate ends up being my all-rounder because of her epic passive, so let's move on to Kate...
Kate is borderline OP with starting tension of +75% every point. She can spam skills and charged shots until the cows come home, as well as blow all of the opponents clothes off very quickly (and in doing so, permanently de-buff her opponent); it's honestly a bit ridiculous how much better her passive is than the other girls. If I were to nerf one thing in the game I would put this down to like +33% or maybe even +25%, and move 5 to 10 points of base stamina somewhere else.
Good suggestions overall OP, I'll put some of my own I've come up with too -
* Doubles gameplay for sure
* Singles full matches (6 game sets, best-to-3 or best-to-5 matches) vs. one opponent
* AI needs more tuning (they never rush/play the net)
* An additional harder difficulty (I can win the expert tournament 100% of the time now that I'm leveled)
* The opponent able to occasionally clothes-break the player
* Customizable tournaments (how many players/games/sets/difficulty/etc)
* Customizable player character or at the very least more outfits to choose from to play in
* More characters in general to choose from (could be the tournament girls!), and maybe even one day multiplayer up to 4 in a match (Steamworks API)?
