I get that they probably did all the other dev work themselves and that the game looks legitimately fun... but using generative AI in any capacity is a deal breaker for me to give you money. Voices and Artwork in particular... Especially considering there is a voice actor union strike going on right now because of AI voice, it feels a bit extra bad taste.

Please tell me it's a placeholder since the game is in Early Access. If not, hey we all have our opinions. I'm not gonna vilify you for it and I hope nobody will do the same to me or flame/troll here.

I’m certain they’re placeholders (some of the lines sound really rough too).

This game is super early access, and if the devs didn’t know if it would sell then spending a ton of money on voice actors may have been too much of a risk for them.

As a placeholder, I don’t mind. I do hope they get replaced with some real voices down the line though.

I just want to say that I am totally fine with the use of AI from a moral standpoint. There is ZERO MORAL RIGHT to a job as a video game voice actor. This job did not even exist when I was a kid. When the CD-ROM was invented and games started adding voices, they were terrible, done by amateurs, often people from the dev team or their relatives/friends. Video game VA as an exclusive job as opposed to a side gig has only become a reality over the last 10-20 years. And in recent years, with the rise of motion and face capturing, VA roles on high budget titles more often go to live actors, rather than pure voice actors. I guess it was nice while it lasted that ugly people could make a living as a pure video game VA for a few years. So maybe that's going away now because between the mo-cap actors and AI there's no more room. So be it. It was just a blip in history. A job we needed for a while and no longer need. Learn something else, then. Learn to become an AI operator.

Don't get me wrong, if you can replace the voice lines with BETTER ones, I'm all for it. But do not replace them with human spoken lines just for the sake of it it.

surely the dev can pay voice actors for this

we're all artists and tired of this ai nonsense and wont support it

I agree. I'm highly against AI voices. I liked them at first but it lacks character.

but its irrelevant either way
Ai used to create texture for renders and AA for games and frame generation and FSR thats all fine
thats part of the engine
AI thats used to just have garbage voicing and "Art" is trash.
not all ai is bad its a tool that can be used well , having your characters sound so plain n stupid is not a good use for it
maybe as a placeholder sure whatever, again this game sold so much bro can pay VA's i promise you theres hundreds maybe thousands that'd be so willing to work with this dev for htis game cuz its easy clout for them and wont charge that much and they'll sound good.

The game has been out for 9 days.

This is the developer's first ever published game on steam.

The store page clearly states that the game is in early access, and that changes are coming.

I hate AI slop as much as the next guy, but you lot are acting like children. Maybe give a brand new early-access title some time to actually create some content? Three of the four current characters are voiced, and for most people it would seem obvious that a proper voice-actor will replace the AI.

Stop being a mob for half a second and be a little more considerate.
