Savage Lands Wiki - Technical Difficulties
Hey there, Tagaziel here, from Curse.

First, I would like to apologize if any of you experience slow downs or adverse behavior from the wiki. That's because we are currently exorcising bugs from the system, with a focus on the ad delivery system.

Apologies for the inconvenience, we are trying our damnedest to make sure this goes as fast as possible!

The wiki is incredibly unwieldy. Too much horizontal size. It is built for monster monitors, not normal ones, or maybe people who want to lose their eyesight. Why not just use wikia?

Could you let us know what resolution you use to visit the wiki? Maybe you could share a screenshot and explain. We try our best to make it look good for anyone who visits and would love to improve where we can. We use Gamepedia because it is way more advanced with options and abilities we need and wish to use.

The wiki works fine with 1920x1080p and even letterbox.
Not sure what you mean.

Also, Wikia is nowhere near Gamepedia after using it for a while. Far too limiting in what we can do.

I just messed with my resolution on my PC, started at 800x600 and worked all the way up to 2560x1440, and the only issue I came across was when using 800x600. Anything from 1024x748 and up looked normal.

Did you zoom out or in by a lot?

Sorry, but cannot use Wikia, used to use them, but they are far too limiting in what can be done.

I will reach out to Curse though and see if we can get this fixed.

Ok thank you.

Maintenance
The Official Savage Lands Wiki is currently undergoing maintenance!

Sean and I are currently migrating all wiki pages from the Unity 4 version of the game to new 'Legacy' pages. We will then have to make sure the migration has been successful without any issues. The wiki will show a notification during the time of maintenance and we would strongly advise to check back later. This notification will be removed once work has been done and everything appears to function properly again.

Hopefully the migration will go smoothly. Thank you for your patience.

Maintenance update/info

The wiki is being worked on for all the new content to be in place again and available to be worked on by the community. Even interactive maps are planned to be implemented on the wiki for all three of the islands. However, the game has been going through a huge amount of changes. Because of this, Sean and myself have only been able to prepare things in the background and were forced to hold off on actually adding new content. Too much is involved in the backbone of a wiki to just add content pages, especially when that content may have changed again with a next update.
Another thing to mention is the fact that until recently, it has not even been clear if the old Unity 4 version of the game would remain. For the wiki, keeping Legacy or not, was of great importance. With Legacy staying, this meant we had to find a good way to keep that content in place, while at the same time allowing for new content and new ways to provide this content for Unity 5 to all be in one place.
Lastly, I want to mention the fact that Gamepedia on which our official wiki is hosted, has gone through a massive update back in February as well. This caused unexpected changes to the content that was already there. We had to fix things caused by this update and it would not have been wise to have already started implementing new content at that time.

Now with the content in Unity 5 for the game as well as the wiki itself having stabilized again, we could finally start putting all the preparations we made into place. We have migrated about 3000 pages that Legacy contained to continue to be available within the same wiki. The old Legacy pages will even keep their old look for all you people out there to enjoy. Just to give you all an idea, that was about 2000 lines of CSS (page styling) involved that had to be merged into a new stylesheet to work together with the new style planned for the Unity 5 content pages. Yes, that's right, the new content pages will have a brand new style to match the current version of the game, resulting in a new merged CSS of about 3000 lines. I am not even going into detail on how much effort this took to even getting it all to work within the new 'updated' ways of Gamepedia. The full backbone of providing content pages in an organized way is being worked on as well. Templates are being put in place to allow for easy editing and adding new content, not just by Sean and myself, but by anyone willing to help out to fill in missing info. A proper setup for this backbone is the key to success and of utmost importance on a wiki such as ours.

Yes there will be 'interactive' maps of the islands, if all goes well. The basis for this has been worked on and is fully prepared as a select few know and have actually seen. Until now it would not have been smart to put them up with the amount of changes going on, especially since these maps are interactive with lots of code and more involved. To give everyone an idea again, about 1500-3000 lines of code, SVGs and CSS in total at least, for 'each' island. I am more than happy to see that the islands are no longer going through huge changes anymore, which means they are about ready to be finalized and put in place.
These maps planned for the wiki, allow for a way to not right away spoil everything. The wiki in general will eventually contain a lot of valuable information, but at the same time we never have the intention to fully spoil things. This is something Sean and I do discuss with the developers, being the 'official wiki'. This means that truly specific information may or may not be found on our -if I say so myself- wonderful wiki by default. Additionally, some information may be unlocked or found through Easter Eggs somehow, depending on hooks and options available to us.

Lastly, I want to mention that the wiki is not being made by the developers, just to make that perfectly clear. Most wikis, and this goes for the Savage Lands wiki as well, are being created and maintained by community effort. It does help of course that Sean and I are somewhat more involved with the developers. So feel free to get in touch with us if you wish to help out with content or translations, we sure appreciate all the help we can get.

Note:
We are currently finalizing the styling and backbone (templates and more) as well as fixing broken translations for the Legacy content pages. The 'Maintenance' notification will be up for a while longer. Just bare with us as we finish up the needed basis, we're getting there...

Thank you for your patience.

Interactive maps are now available on the Official Savage Lands Wiki[savagelands.gamepedia.com]!

This is still a work in progress, but the first implementation is functional.

Note: These interactive maps require Chrome or Firefox browser with Javascript and SVG enabled.

You can check out all three the islands of Tarvhas here:
Snowmere[savagelands.gamepedia.com]
Freydalyn[savagelands.gamepedia.com]
Jormungahr[savagelands.gamepedia.com]

Enjoy!

We are still working on some core implementations on the wiki and we do realize there is currently a lack of up-to-date information for the current builds. We expect these core changes to be finished soon, which will make adding information and page content a whole lot easier. We appreciate your patience and encourage anyone willing to help out to come on over. Feel free to contact either Sean or me for any questions or help.

You have not been forgotten ;-)

Is it allowed to write an italian version of the wiki pages?

ETA on the next update? theres still a lot of bugs with animals getting stuck in random spots, only the game creator can see the fire animation, random disconnects in multiplayer and sometimes when you attack monsters they don't even hit back, like they don't notice that you're there. And also, is it possible to add a loot drop modifier so that you can increase/decrease resource drops? because if you only have one or no one else to play with then it takes hours of grinding just to get a decent base going.

Just my thoughts, this has a lot of potential but still needs a lot of work done.

This topic is meant for the Official Savage Lands Wiki specifically and I am unable to move your reply to the appropriate location(s).

As for your first question regarding an ETA on the next update, this would have been better asked in a new topic in the General Discussion or alternatively in the Upcoming Live DEV Stream topic, in case you want it answered by the developers during the next live stream on Twitch[www.twitch.tv]. These live streams are pretty much the best place to stay up-to-date on progress being made in development. There is currently no ETA on the next update, but can usually be expected to match their bi-weekly stream schedule. The next update is therefor likely to be expected soon.

In regards to the mentioned issues you experience, these are known issues and are being worked on to get fixed with future updates. The beta branch has the latest updates and currently these updates will remain in beta until stable enough to become the new default build. The current latest build can be found here (opt-in).

For suggestions like a loot drop modifier as you mentioned, I would suggest to create a topic in the Feedback & Suggestions sub forum.
