What is the difference between this and the other previous releases?

its all english, albeit lacking dubs until they get around to it, should be straightforward just a 1 to 1 port of the korean version, uncensored and every way that matters while being quite early behind, currently for this we should have 3 full palace arcs while korean and china versions are on like 5-6 right now, some things are not implemented yet for some reason but, nothing too drastic

It's a Mobile Gacha Spinn-off. Means it get's regurarly Updates with more Story and Characters. Also you have to "Pull" for new Characters and/or Weapons through a "Slot Machine" Mechanic. These pulls can be earned by playing to an extent, or bought with real money.

The difference is that there are no previous releases of this game for western/EN audiences, unless you're confusing this F2P gacha with the mainline games

I think I'm confusing it with the mainline games, because the last one I played is Persona 5 Royal.

ye, Persona 5 Royal is the updated play-this-version-for-best-experience Persona 5 main game, and the only version that's on Steam, all DLC included too.

There are a couple spin-offs/sequels available. Persona 5 Strikers incorporates Dynasty-Warriors-like 1000v1 combat, and I haven't looked too heavily into Persona 5 Tactica yet but pretty sure that's a tactics RPG like Fire Emblem?

This one here, however, is the EN version release of a free-to-play gacha mobile game spin-off. like, often described as "chinese bootleg Persona 5", despite having the name. Not a title too many people are hyped for, at least not in circles I've seen, but a free installment in the franchise to waste time with all the same.
