These racial bonuses are small but can help with for instance keeping up/recovering the resources (stamina/magica), some races have a small bouns to make thieving/assassination easier (for playing Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood dlcs) etc etc.
Just something to keep in mind, since once you choose a class on a character you can not really change it later, so put at least some thought inot what you want to do with that character and whether the chosen race-class combo synergizes well together...
Racial bonuses are great and I always go for a race that will benefit my build but I find it hilarious how half of the game's population consists of Argonians simply because of passives.
I personally get flamed if i walk around with my orc sorcerer, because people say that it's useless and dumb. but i think it looks awesome, being big and buff, while also a mage.
YES! I'm 65 and I play what I want, the way I want, and ( since retired ) when I want, since starting on mainframes back in the mid 1970's. I appreciate other players' feedback and insights, but ultimately it's my choice...and it's fun...
Play what you want, but dont create forum topics like "i can't do any damage to mobs", "i can't kill anyone in PvP", "people constantly kicks me from the partyes", "why my dps so low" etc.
I for one do agree with your opinion based on your reason, but however, if a player is looking to become the best they can be in the game, I cant agree with you. Its not about the scoreboard, its about how your treat yourself in the game, high elf sorc will perform better than Nord sorc, and its easier to play.
"Build how you like, use what feels best for you. This is the only way to maximize your actual enjoyment of the game" >
This is abit selfish and ignorant dont you think, its not the only way to enjoy the game,I for one cannot spam snipe in a vet dungeon, even if snipe ability is my favourite bow ability.
In the end my friend, dont single yourself out if you have the choice to go with the majority, you will find your eso playtime much easier and no one will talk trash about your build.
Like let's say you get a nord sorcerer.
First, if it's a tank sorcerer, that can be a valid choice (yes, sorcs can tank vet trials, they are not that weak compared to DKs, they just miss like one or 2 support abilities, they'll have somthing else in slot).
Let's look at the racials :
- hp regen and max stamina. good for any tank, stamina for more block spamming, regen for well... regen.
- max hp and cold resist. more hp is good, cold resist depending on instance bossis valid.
- damage reduction. clearly a tank passive.
If you accord your set, cp and skills with the racials, you can make it work well.
Now, how about a stam sorc nord. Max stamina for damage is good. The rest let's you be tankier, so you can ease that on the rest of the build.
Then a mag sorc nord (dps and healer), the stamina will give you some more dodge rolls, while the rest will let you be tankier.
So in conclusion a nord is tanky, you get more survivability but less dps or heal. But it's not that much, it's not that impairing, and depending on where you play it (solo maelstrom, pvp etc.)it might actually be more viable than another race.
It's all about the synergy and how you use the numbers, provided you do the maths (obviously if you go yolo, that's gonna be bad, but that's true for an easy combo too, if you're bad, you're bad with a tank argonian mag DK, doesn't matter what you play).
Racial bonuses literally make maybe 5% difference at max level and CP.
