No dialog in NPC interactions
When I select one of the options to engage with dialog there is only the animation of the characters but no subtitles or audio of the conversation.

Confirmed Arch Linux. It worked once, tried native and runtime libraries. Next button is there, but no dialogue text.

Same, Linux Mint 18.2, GTX1070, and no subtitles/captions show up when they're supposed to.

Here I was thinking this had something to do with my trust level being to low to get the wanted information from the NPC (and results in awkward silence between player and NPC), but no

Let's just remind ourselves that the full game jsut came out yesterday and will need patching. One guess I could do is an error in the way Unity handle textboxes. But don't worry, every piece of important information is still written in your journal.

Quite a bit of the UI is missing on the Linux version, compared to the Windows version (I play on both) and has been since the last set of betas:
  • Fire temperature and duration in the fire screen
  • No information when picking up items - you have to add them to your inventory to work out if you picked up a 5g or 1kg piece of meat
  • Error messages telling you why you can't do something. Normally it's obvious, but sometimes it's not

Up until now they were never game breaking, but not knowing that people are saying is going to make things quite tricky!

So while I agree that the game was released only yesterday (and I'm really enjoying it so far) the underlying problems have been present for months and myself and others have filed bug reports (with no acknowledgement of the issue)

Unfortunately Linux users probably make up a small percentage of the players so we're probably at the back of the queue when it comes to bugs, which is a shame but also understandable.

Aha - I did the following to fix it for me (I'm sure I tried it before) - YMMV.

I use the same launch command but no audio in the dialog choices.. or maybe there has to be none? voiceovers work fine in cutscenes though

There are no voice overs (at least for most parts of the Grey Mother dialogues). There should be text, but there isn't for me. Launch command didn't help

Edit: Patch incoming

We'll see if the patch is also linux related...

Thanks for the tip that fixed my problem. Although windowed mode killed my FPS fiddling around with the resolution and then switching back to fullscreen mode somehow made the dialogue text stay visible. Not sure what happens if I restart the game, but if that's the fix for it I'm OK with that :)
Same issues. Linux mint 18.2 and Latest Nvidia Drivers.

I'm seeing the same issues as well with Linux mint 18.2. Thanks for posting this!
