Oculus Rift support at any point?
First, let me tell you that I am waiting for this game since the first time I read about it a few months ago. I like survival games, and at last I think I am going to find in The Long Dark what I am looking for but still didn't find in other games (or only partially).

From what I have seen in videos and articles, the game is very immersive, so it leads me to ask the question of this topic: Do you know if the devs are planning to include Oculus Rift support at some point in the future? I think this is a game that really can benefit from the immersion capabilities of Virtual Reality.

Thanks and regards

Yes, we are planning Oculus support, we committed to it during our Kickstarter campaign (it was a stretch goal that we hit), we have DK2 devkits in the studio right now, and a direct line to engineers at Oculus. It's going to happen.

Those are really wonderful news! Thanks a lot for both the quick answer and for the effort to make the Long Dark compatible with Oculus. Can't wait for the 22nd to come :)

No problem. We're really excited too!

What about TrackIR support? If you're going through the trouble of making the game work with the Oculus Rift, TrackIR support should be a snap. My understanding is the TrackIR developers will provide the SDK for free.

Just as a feedback: This made me put The Long Dark on my wishlist. :)

i like your thought of the track ir but in the long haul but with the oculus rift head set there is no strain on your eyes to look left or right because the screen is right in front of you. the track ir has a nice lean feature i like but the oculus rift also has that intergrated in its software. slightly defeats the purpose to eperiment with a less fammilliar equipment along with they already have the support needed for the oculus rift dev 2 kit

Is DK2 support in the current Early Access build? I will buy anything that has DK2 support - but I've been burned too many times by EA games that claim to support the OR but have zero support with no actual implementation in sight.

I haven't seen the options to enable it so far (DK1 user here), so my guess (and judging from the dev's comments) is that it is not implemented yet, though planned for some time in the future.

One thing that has surprised me, is how immersive is the game without the rift. I can't wait to play with it :)

We'll provide an update on Oculus support when we have more to say about it. :)

Don't worry, we will be patient. I imagine that at this stage you have lots of things to focus on. It's simply that the game is so incredibly immersive that we are eager to play it with the rift... :)

And we're eager for you to play it on the Oculus as well!

It does work with Vorpx, but as always native would be best and a sure buy then.

I made a quick test with Vireio, but it crashes when entering a building. Personally I think it's better to wait for native support rather than using a wrapper.

Besides, I think that if you like survival games, you really should considering buying this game even if it still doesn't have oculus support. It's really great.
