Inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will
shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness
for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious
Anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers
And you will know
My name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee"
Personally I believe the right way to approach the copyright of curated maps should be as follows: map makers publish their maps on the workshop with their copyright. When SDG sees a map deemed worthy of going curated, you should reach out to said map maker/s and discuss making the map open to the community without the copyright protection much like current curated maps.
This way map creators aren’t scared someone is going to take their map and reupload it before it’s even curated and have their work under protection up until the point it inevitably becomes curated and is open to the community.
Another thing I’d like to add which could be a point of interest is providing the unity files for larger portions of the games content. I believe some of the newer game functions don’t have the necessary documentation and examples, with maps like A6 Polaris, Buak and Elver expanding on what can be done with the game, assets like these are crucial in showing new modders examples of what others have done to better understand these complex parts of the game.
You have to be bravely self-righteous and entitled to be capable of unironically posting ♥♥♥♥ like this under an unturned blogpost
I fully agree with this. It'd make it so much safer to post potential curated maps if you could copyright it and just remove the copyright once accepted.
I'm kinda confused by this. Is this because you guys want to get all the current curated maps out first? Or do you think that's how long it will take for the community to finish a good amount of these? If so, I fully understand why. It's just a bit sad to see cause I'm most likely going to be leaving the community before 2026
Thinking along those same lines though. Would you consider supporting smaller high quality map projects that aren’t on the scale of a full curated maps by way of small cosmetic bundles? Similar to the candy land map which isn’t officially curated but still got a cosmetic set to support the developers. I think that doing this would greatly benefit smaller developers that are still talented but don’t have the time to make full scale projects. And as a result well made community content will be fostered as a frequent occurrence.
It'll make sense.
Wow, it's almost as if you skipped over all of the stuff that said exactly the opposite because it doesn't fit your narrative. He literally said "a longtime creator we haven’t collaborated with before". Toothy has already collaborated with them through the tree commission so it can't be them.
I do admit I misread, but my point still stands. You state "Toothy deeryte is going to be the only person with cosmetics in the game now". They say "artists". This means that there will be more than one. You're just assuming that Toothy has much more power than they actually have. It's more likely that it'll be a multitude of different artists rather than a single person
Feels like quite the slap in the face to all the blacklisted parties that creator protections are made a top priority just a month after they're forcibly pushed out of the curated system
Yeah, that is fair. But Think of all of the other artists and creators that will get the chance to make money and show their work through this. Not doing something just because it helps someone that may or may not be a terrible person is disingenuous and will only lead the game to stagnate even further.
