Mr. Sacks - Hunger Quest (Minor Spoilers)

So I just picked up Mr. Sack's from London's port, and got the "Hunger Quest". I'm given the choice to go to Pigmote Island, or Khan Empire. I love the litte furry bastards, but their island is so much closer than Khan. Does it have any effect (long term) as to whom I bestow this curse upon?

Last time I was doing this bit, Pigmote didn't work as an option when I swung through, but I could be misremembering.

Either way, the Khanate end of it is... interesting.

You have to make sure that Pigmonte Island is not deserted because of catastrophy. It happened to me after the rats burned down their woods. They starved and next time I came there nobody was around to receive Mr. Sacks goods.

the Roast introduces Famine to the Island, but does not as far as I know affect their Spirit or Strength or Civilization number wise
