Challenge #25: Spread the Word!
Looking for your results in the previous challenge? Check here

This is the last challenge before the expansion hits, so the Renowned Explorers are working hard to spread the word!

The Story
Pinkerton proudly stands before a packed parlor."My dear explorers! I have fantastic news! We've found exciting news about two new locations. It is very likely that we will make thrilling discoveries there!" The explorers in the room get excited and immediately start discussing the new possibilities!
But Pinkerton continues on a graver tone: "However! The Bureaucratic committee of Needless Obstruction has yet to give us the green light for exploration. They need to be convinced of our splendor! As you might know, this organization is spread over the globe and needs to be convinced locally and explicitly. I have elected our finest lobbyists to travel the world and convince them with our renown."
To no one's surprise, Cassandra, Maria and Pedrinho were called up to the stand. But the election of Jan-Piet seemed a bit odd. Maybe Pinkerton expects a tall tale to do well?...

Impress the committee and spread the word!

The Rules
You must convince the Bureaucratic committee of Needless Obstruction around the globe! At least 3 different continents must be visited!

- Choose your captain from Maria, Pedrinho and Jan-Piet.
- You must visit 3 of the 4 continents in an expedition (starter expedition doesn't count. See below)
- Your score is your Renown.

- Play on Adventure Mode.
- Play on any Difficulty. Classic yields the most MP.
- As long as you didn't break the rules, a defeat can also be submitted

The continents and their expeditions are:
  • Europe: Hungarian Fort, Highlands, Transylvania
  • Americas: Caribbean, Emerged Island
  • Africa: Mali, Egypt
  • Asia: Shangri-La

The Goals
BRONZE: 2000 Renown (1 Medal Points*)
SILVER: 4000 Renown (2 MP*)
GOLD: 7000 Renown (3 MP*)
PLATINUM: 9000 Renown and you have to visit all 4 continents once! (starter expedition doesn't count)**

* Number of medal points awarded when playing on Classic Difficulty. Easy and Normal give less, according to these rules.
** The platinum medal is extraordinary and can only be achieved on Classic or Impossible difficulty. It doesn't increase Medal Points, but we will track how many you have.

STORY MEDAL: What will Maria say to the Asian representatives of the committee? What treasure will really get the attention and why? Does Jan-Piet even have the patience to work with such bureaucrats?

We're keeping track of all the medals you gained in the Hall of Fame.

Huh, this one shouldn't be too bad for me, since Starter > Caribbean > Highlands > ? > Shangri-Li is the route I typically take normally.

Though that does make it a little less interesting as well, since it's just like a normal game, albeit with a limited choice in Captain.

Last one before the expansion hits? I'll say that's a lot sooner than I expected, but I'm excited!

Excited about the expansion! I have a big project finishing the 31st and now I know how I'll celebrate...

Here's a bronze from my previous games, in case I can't finish one this weekend.

Here's my entry for Silver. I'll get a gold one of these days!

I would try again but I'm pretty hyped for the expansion and I don't want to burn out before it's released.

Well, it surprises me. Who is Cassandra? Probably an entourage member, I suppose. One whose name I've forgotten. Or have never known.

This actually kind of bothers me. A lot of the entourage have portraits brimming with personality, but because they never actually do anything in the game (besides Pinkerton, Lady Vaduva and Dracula), they're basically just static bonuses.

7329 renown.

So I got gold but my plan totally went out the door. I decided to go Hungarian-Memphis, mainly for the portrait for status boost but it didn't even appear. :steamfacepalm: And then got to Transylvania and forgot to add Count Dracul to my entourage. I was going to get Psychology after that but couldn't because I overestimated my science output. Makes sense, I didn't go to any science expedition. Got nearly 500 gold per insight with Pedrinho at Zanzibar but I didn't complete Engineering either (only completed History and Anthropology). Got all legendary gears and specialist entourage so that's nice, that was one of my goal when I was learning the game. Shangrila was a breeze with legendary gears, defeated Rivaleux in 2 turns(6 hits, I backed away the first turn so acutally 3 turns) Record time for me. Mount Kailash appeared fairly early and took away a lot of tokens and supplies from encounters.

Isn't Cassandra Rivaleux's speaker? I don't remember the names of the specialists though. The specialists have a little blurb when they give you the perk but usually I don't even see it. Worried that I would pick the wrong perk.

Yes, I agree. It would be nice if they have more roles to play in expeditions or team mechanics like campfire between crew members.

Game went well for me, especially since I got the Starter Island Treasure I wanted on my first try, the Skull of Cernunnos. It even gave Archaeology Occult to Kiwi like I wanted. Maria then would eventually take Occult as well, and I used the Science Tree Perk to give Anna Occult as well, so that the Skull would give all three of them the bonus to their rolls. And then just pretty much went from there on a Science run.

The only thing that was completely unexpected was the game somehow going Friendly, since this was a horrible group for going that route, and yet it's what ended up happening.

Oh yeah, you're absolutely right. Gosh, can't believe that slipped my mind.

I guess "Cassandra = the Egyptian lady" is a connection I don't make that easily.

Which is kind of unfair of me, I suppose. The Ptolemy dynasty was a thing, after all.

She's the scientist actually, Rivaleux himself is the team's speaker. Cassandra is probably a natural diplomat though, it is probably her second perkline after archaeology.

I decided to get the challenge done early for once, Pedrinho partied through the commity with JP and Phillipe right behind him.

Now that Phillipe's Enrage resist has finaly been fixed I can now fully use my resistances build on him to full effect.

Even though I'm a bit distracted by a certain other videogame right now, I found a bit of time to write a story.

Spinning Cogs

It was a small, crowded little room. The filing cabinets lining every wall were far too big for this tiny office, leaving barely enough room for the desk and two chairs. It was the most joyless place Maria had ever seen. Only small, potted plant gave the room the tiniest bit of colour. It was, however, a very healthy potted plant, obviously taken proper care of by its owner. Or the janitor.
