Advent Puzzle 21 Solved! Grand Challenge Clue Unlocked!
Story:
Agatha looked critically at the blackboard outside her lecture theatre. Someone had been meddling! Fortunately, there hadn't been anything vital on it, but she'd have to nip this kind of behaviour in the bud before it became common practice.

However, it was actually rather interesting - it wasn't some foolish thing, but rather a long timeline - covering the whole of known history, with a few major eras notated on it. Indeed, there was even a note that it was not to scale - which was true. If it had been it would've stretched around the entire university, and been pretty dull to look at, for the most part.

Babylon, Egypt, the Greeks, the Romans- so many major civilisations were notated on the line, and yet several others worthy of note were not included, to Agatha's puzzlement.

Then she peered at the modern era, examining the tiny text carefully. 'RE:IS Advent Challenge set' with a tiny asterisk was right next to another marker: 'Challenge 21: History of Exploration Challenge set'.

Puzzle: I've been around since the dawn of time itself and I'm used every day by millions. However, to find me by name in the game, only one person can direct you. What am I?

This puzzle has been solved by the community, but the Grand Challenge Clue (half) was not unlocked - this has now been unlocked with the community option for the 30th. See the Grand Challenge thread for the Clue.

Solution: Mathematics

A complete submission will include:
• The image shows the in-game solution text solution to the puzzle.
• You may use either the base game or More To Explore for this puzzle.

Bonus point: If you get the right answer and find a second person who can direct you to the correct answer (thus proving me wrong) you get a bonus point. I'm relatively sure there's only one person though.

Additional Secret: For a major clue towards one of the grand challenge rules, the community must submit at least six different, correct solutions and include a picture of their resources, one of which must be at a value lower than 5. This image must be taken while the crew is in London between expeditions.

Deadline: Wednesday 28th December 12:00 noon CET

Spoilers: You may wish to use spoilers so that other players can choose if they wish to know the answer while the puzzle is up or not. To do so, copy this:

If you put any image within the spoilers too it will also be hidden from viewing until you mouse-over it.

Example Solution
A valid solution would have these features:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=809963737

- Any image shows an in-game picture of the solution, and must also include your resource values if you are attempting the Grand Challenge clue as well.
- The solution you've found matches the requirements of the challenge

Psst, the link to the Abbey Forums is a link to you editing the post.

As for the puzzle, I'm not really sure, but I don't think it's a treasure. I'm trying to think of times when you have to meet someone before a node to gain access to said node, but I'm having a hard time thinking of them. Well, ones that would work. It's not the Yeti or the three Andes village encounters. Thinking of other instances where an encounter leads to a node, there's a bunch. But none of them seem correct that I'm thinking of. All three in Mali for instance, the Mask, Diamond, and Elephant Skull all don't fit. Hungary as well, none fit. I can't think of any nodes in Caribbean that fit. I could be missing some.

Thanks, fixed.

"what am I"... not Who am I. Therefore we are looking for a thing, not a person. This could be an item, or a skill... The idea that only one person can direct you makes me think it is a character-exclusive skill.

" I've been around since the dawn of time itself"- Time is a human concept, only measurable by one thing... something millions use every day, and only one explorer can teach:

Answer: Mathematics, an exclusive naturalist skill known only by Anna. Screenshot shows it on Harry, for the bonus point, Agatha is also there, We are in London, and have fewer than 5 gold, status, and insight.

Dawn of time is another hint for what we should be looking for I think. If it's all of time, we might consider the stars, or emptiness(something in Shangri-La perhaps, maybe the temple where you can rest)? 'Dawn of time' also refers to 'dawn of recorded time/civilization' sometimes, which hints at fire, agriculture, writing, or speech? The fact that it's 'used by millions' leads me to think it's more dawn of recorded time than dawn of all time.

EDIT:And dammit I think brownknight has this. Good job!

You just made my (otherwise quite stressful) day! TY

(Edit: still no proof I have the right answer though, if you think of something else that fits, go with it.)

Okay, I'm obviously missing something (re: The Bonus.)

How do I get Mathmatics onto a second person please? I thought it was with Anna's card from MTE, but it won't let me select Maths. Thanks.

All the Best,

Welsh Dragon.

Answer:Mathematics. Pedrihno has spent too much status to throw a huge party, leaving us with only 2 status left.

And to answer your question Welsh Dragon, you can only get Mathematics on another character by having them admire Anna (admiring a person always grants the admirer that admiree's unique skill, which is Mathematics for Anna). Anna's card doesn't let her teach Mathematics.

You can accomplish that by getting someone to like Anna, then like Anna again, thus upgrading the like to admire (using two campfire cards to do so, one of which will usually be Anna's), or having someone admire Anna straight away (fewer campfire cards do this, the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Harry's).

Thus why I used Harry.

Are we sure it's Mathematics? I mean, it fits the first two bits, yeah, but the wording of the secret has me worried. 'different correct solutions'. Different.

Might just be the way I worded it there - I just meant that it needs six solutions which are right and not using the same image for the resource requirement.

Still trying to get the elusive bonus point and additional secret.

EDIT: Well here's the bonus point

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=827631504

Turns out Anna enjoys learning about Wrestling as much as Dolores does about Science.

EDIT 2: And finally here they are having a relaxing time in London between expeditions, keeping a low profile with their extremely low Status. (Thanks for the tip Dragalar.)

Hi Welsh Dragon, I think to help us work towards the secret, a screenshot post-expedition in London with a resource less than 5 would help (I'd recommend spending insight to hopefully barely send you over the threshold for whatever you need to purchase).

I think 'different' correct solutions means you can't borrow another screenshot and have it count as one?
