Advent Puzzle 2 Solved!
Anna returned to her lab, musing. There were many ways to gather information about the grand challenge. A pity no one knew who'd made it, or she'd have the information
very quickly.

Still, in the meantime she'd check her lab notes for relevant information - surely she could analyse-

Her eyes narrowed, glaring at the paper lying on top of her notes. 'Advent Puzzle 2: Anna's Challenge'. She didn't touch it immediately, attempting to analyse how it had got there.

Then she remembered that Earl's latest experiment had circumvented her security measures - until she could complete her capacitor designs to bear the strain of his unbearable 'mistakes' - and sighed. Anyone could've left it there. She picked it up and opened it.

Puzzle: Find me somewhere North of Leasingham and South of Welbourn if you're feeling frustrated and want to start over, Anna.

This puzzle has now been solved successfully, and the cryptic clue unlocked.

Cryptic Clue 1: Ruskington

With your answer submission, include a picture of the answer from the event in the game with Anna in the picture (You're recommended to have her as captain for the best chance of her being present).

A complete submission will include:
 • Your answer for the puzzle in text matching the in-game solution's text.
 • A screenshot with the solution to the puzzle in it and with Anna in the image too.
 • You may use either the base game or More To Explore for this puzzle

Bonus point: No bonus available for this puzzle.

Additional Secret:
For a (minor) cryptic clue towards the grand challenge, someone in the community must find the answer and the in-game's exact location's name. (Just add it alongside your answer)

Deadline: Friday 9th December 12:00 noon CET

Solution: (Unknown)

Spoilers: You may wish to use spoilers so that other players can choose if they wish to know the answer while the puzzle is up or not. To do so, copy this:
*Your answer here*
If you put the image within the spoilers too it will also be hidden from viewing until you mouse-over it.

Abbeygames forum link:
Worth checking in case submissions there have used your chosen event for their submission (though I don't think that many are using it these days)

Example Image
A valid solution would have these features:
Answer: Pinkerton

- The captain/notated crew member visible on the screen
- In-game text relating to the answer
- The solution in the image (In this example, the answer chosen was 'Pinkerton')
- The solution you think is the correct answer written in text beneath it, preferably with spoiler tags.

There seem to be two solutions. The area around leasingham and welbourne was saxon territory and Saxon as starter island would fit to the starting over theme in the puzzle. Ingame there are two burial sites: The one from King Egbert and the grave of Beornwulf of Mercia. Both their real life graves arent in between the two mentioned cities. So one of these two would fit the puzzle. Im guessing King Egbert, because the other spot doesnt have a exact ingame location name.

Answer: King Egbert
Ingame location: Old kings and rivals

Black Balloon did the legwork for me, so I'll just piggyback off the success of others and answer with King Egbert

Answer: The Grave of Beornwulf of Mercia

Non-offical 2nd guesses: Kinder Scout, Brauncewell's Quarry

Part of this depends on the exact spelling of Welbourne, as there is both Welbourne, and Welbourn N of Leasingham. Can I get a confirmation that the spelling is correct?

EDIT: Fair point, seems my typing was in error when I copied the name. It is actually Welbourn - have corrected the issue.

I'll take another look soon then, as we have a week.

Leasingham and Welbourn are oddly specific, it's just a couple of miles apart. What's there...a village named Cranwell and a quarry... Restarting makes me think of low chance rolls on treasures...
Roger Feederer Dec 5, 2016 @ 1:40pm
Is there somewhere a -2 resolve roll that could fit the description and (if it's in a starter island), if failed, could make you start over?
Dragalar Dec 5, 2016 @ 7:30pm

I know a Quartz Mine isn't technically a quarry, but it's close? I have to assume it's the UK Welbourn/Leasingham and not the Australian/New Zealand ones, given that it references the starter islands.

Answer:Quartz Mine

Adriaan and I have finally found it. We resorted to scanning the source code which kinda counts like cheating (not necessary). So we won't publish our answers. All I will say is that it's different from the one everyone else here posted and that Adriaan found the first lead in an unexpected place not quite the mentioned English places.

Ok because I want the cryptic clue I'm entering this one!

You get stuck here between Welbourn and Leasingham if you select Abandon game in Adventure mode while on the world map. Yup! You should've know this! (I didn't)

Answer: Small News paper, page 12
