here is the thing... I would've agreed with you on this, However! Since this game hasn't gotten a port until NightDive ported and remastered it. There isn't really an Issue.

This has been ND's standard price ever since they created their own engine for remastering. I disagree every game is worth 30. Dark Force remaster should have been 10 or 20. It didn't do much that hasn't been already done with a mod engine.

They did tons of work on Dark Forces remaster, you just don't know/don't care. It's easy for you to say how much they should've charged for it, when you're not the one doing the work and getting paid for it. Obviously (for anyone with a brain), the price isn't just set at random, it's derived from total production costs.

I have Dark Force remaster, and no, they did not do 30 dollars worth of work. You can download Mod, which will give you the same experience as a remaster. The only thing the remaster did better was adding cut levels.

Not all production cost goes into developing the game as well. Do you think Sony games really put 200 million into just the game?

Also, this is remaster not a game their creating from scratch. Look at the Starship Troopers RTS which was brand new game that only costed 30 on release.

I questioned it too but then I was thinking it';; be worth it if they'll do the canceled The Thing 2 sequel so I bought it in hopes the support will allow them to do it.

While bringing up Sony and other red herrings to give an impression you know what you're talking about is pretty pathetic, comparing it to a free mod (even if it were comparable quality, which it absolutely isn't) is especially brain dead, since the fact that someone was willing to work for free doesn't in any way diminish ND's efforts.

I didn't care for dark forces, dunno why people say it's so great and masterful. It's just starwars nostalgia. I had more fun watching 2 episodes of skeleton crew. And that's not saying sc was good either. The first level in df was amusing. The 2nd level was ok, 3rd levels when it gets mind numbingly boring. 4th level is when I quit. Shadows of the empire trashes dark forces. So does rogue squad, rebel leader and kotor. It's weird taking a game on steam that's sold for a buck or 2, jack it up to 30, basically add nothing but a mod level.. And ask 30$?

DF deserves it's criticism as a remaster. Turok3 has no online which turok 2 had. Turok3 was a light shooter can be beat in a day I did. They want 30$ for that?

They abandoned sin which is the best candidate they got and a robust and long game. Blood is anywhere from 5-10$ and is well worth it. However other 3d realms remasters, duke and Shadow warrior go for more than reasonable 1-2$ on sell. I guess nd expects more money.

Why do you need a port when there is the original "PC" chad version already working on modern hardware at 4K with a bit mapping graphics mod and works with Reshade off the bat...

I can literally play the OG with 1.2 patch on a 12800hx, 3070ti, 64gigaroos of ram with windows 11, through steam and use controller support.

Agreed disanium, got the classic version and see no need in 30$ achievements. It's one of the worst remasters I've seen in just how absolutely not worth the price it is. And anyone trying to say df is worth it is setting up someone for an incredible price gouge. I've played the game, it's hard to beat or stay interested in. Meanwhile shadows of the empire I just bought casually on steam. Already own the N64 cart. And am almost to sky hook. Cause shadows is actually a fun game despite its jankyness. The praise the dark forces series get kinda boggles my mind after playing it. The guys yell, and fall over the exact same way Everytime. With little variation to anything. It's not something I'd waste money on with the new 30$ soul reaver remaster that includes 2 legendary horror games.

And then even that seems overpriced.

Is it just me or Nightdive raised the prices of their latest remasters after being acquired by Atari? Maybe that's the problem.
Their remasters before that were much cheaper. Like... shadowman remastered has so many things added and is much much cheaper than anything released later. And is definitely worth the price.
Meanwhile dark forces, turok 3 and this barely have anything besides graphical enhancements and some literal scraps of behind the scenes stuff that is in the vault (IF the game has the vault because some of them don't have it).
On the other hand we have remasters for RotT, Killing Time and Po'ed that have more reasonable prices buuut they didn't stand the test of time so remastering them was a waste of time and resources
