I'll believe it when I see it. I've been burned by too many console-to-PC ports just lately (I still can't get Resident Evil 4 to run at a steady 60fps, and my machine eats the system specs for breakfast).

Six months ago I would have pre-ordered this out the gate, but now I'm going to wait and see how it runs for others.

+1

Maybe they are being honest but sorry, I will take a wait and see approach. Thank Square for that.

Well it certainly sounds encouraging :)

They seem to be making a lot of good decisions between this news and the initial pricepoint.

Especially since this will be the first impression the series makes on a lot of PC gamers. The best chance they have of hooking people unframiliar with the series into the VC is not scrimping on the PC port (which happens far too often) and it sounds like they are giving it a good go.

While this would be nice to have (and it could be, they didn't state whether or not the framerate is capped at 60fps), a game like this won't benefit that much from a framerate beyond 60fps.

Well to be fair, this is sega we are talking about, they have a pretty good history with their pc ports.

That said i don't blame you, got burned on FF13 too.

Hope my laptop can handle it. I've generally not had problems running PS3/360 to PC ports of games that came out prior to 2010. At the least, this seems like it'd still be playable at a lower framerate if I'm stuck with that :P
UFantasy 30 Oct, 2014 @ 4:52pm
I hope that the framerates are consant @ 60 fps and no framerate drop between 60 fps and 30 fps like ff13. Because of the framedrop the game doesn't run smooth.

They did announce 60fps like 3 days before release, and yes it was uncapped at 60fps but the framerate is so unstable that you can never enjoy the higher framerate, the game runs better capped at 30 fps IMO, so 60fps is useless if the game engine can't maintain it.

I just hope this won't be the case for this port.

Mblades 30 Oct, 2014 @ 5:03pm
well if this is true then already pre ordered my favourite game that i always wanted on PC. thanks sega

I'm worried mostly about keyboard and mouse support. Many ports ruin this completely for the player. I have complained about Dark Souls 2 K+M being bad, and it was one of the best supported "ports". If we have 3rd person shooting, that mouse needs to be on point and act like a mouse, not a heavily modified controller.

Most people would say "Just go buy a controller" and it makes sense. But at the same time I wouldn't tell another person to just "deal" with 30fps or anything lower than 1080p. I want to play this game, but I want it to be made correctly first. I will play the wait game as well.
